This worked with the warning light faults but ours have now started losing ethernet connectivity. And baking it doesnt fix that :-(

Thanks Peter, but I don't want the news ticker to appear in front of anything, the global navigation is disappearing behind the news ticker for all users that aren't site owners. But I'll have a fiddle with that bit again. Cheers for now!

oh forgot to mention. The global navigation drop down appears behind the scroller for Admins and Site Designers. Weird...

Hi. Can anyone see anything wrong immediately about the following code? These airdusters are what we use, along with generic anti-static screen cleaner, and also generic foam spray cleaner. micro fibre cloths or just paper towel, but it's worth asking your site team and/or cleaners for any of the cleaners, and also their anti graffiti spray comes in handy quite regularly. Our cleaners won't touch a desk that houses a pc?!?!

with regards to the vandalism side, have you considered putting in cameras? I know that's a task on top of everything else, but if really does seem to sort out that side of things, I know that at my old school we were spending roughly £300 a week on replacement mice and keyboards at one point, that soon stopped when the CCTV went in, leaving us to concentrate on the more pressing issues.

Server 2003 R2, IIS 6

If I don't solve this in the next week I'm giving up. And I can't give up because I've wasted far too much time on this learning curve already. Ok so I've set up my helpdesk. I think this is server related - or how I've got my IIS set up. Or maybe neither. When I try and access the default website by the ip address of the server it's on, I get a windows logon box. And can't get access to the website unless I put in administrator etc. This is me being ignorant about server setups, but is this a simple thing that anyone can see as to where I'm going wrong - something you have to do on networks? Or is it something I need to trawl over liberum's support again? I don't think it's liberum though, as the helpdesk it working ok as an admin, it's just accessing the actual website. I think. Should I just go back to teaching windsurfing??

Learn to windsurf - vouchers normally valid for 6-12 months and a course is around £135 for four hour lessons with an hours practise after each, or a taster lesson normally around £35 for an hour. Or it was when I used to teach it...and is fun to be able to do when you're on holiday and all the other half wants to do is sunbathe!

I was on £150 for the first year. In the second year you go onto minimum wage if it's a modern apprenticeship...I'm still on a uni course with a few apprentices, and I think if you speak to 80% of the employers of people on my course they'll tell you it's well worth it. I don't know whether skillsbase would cover your area, but they're good to talk to regarding taking on apprentices, and if they don't cover you they'll be able to give you the contact number of someone in your area. They were also looking at offering 'first year free' apprentices when I was last enquiring about getting an apprentice in at our place...

Guess none of you live in Stoke then - most of the car garages ended this on 28th Feb and it was a max of £2k unless you part exed something aswell, apparently the new boiler scrappage scheme is going to be brought in for March...unless that's just what they told my friend to make her panic buy. I won't have owned my old banger for a year until May so I'm going to miss out!!

don't you have anywhere you could attach a cable tie to?Like just cable tying all the wires at the back? We do this and it's only a problem if a keyboard breaks or a mouse goes..But a 0.05p cable tie is less expensive to replace than component...

To resurrect this thread - I've installed and run chrome from a shared drive, but this way it remembers the browsing history for each visit to the shared drive. How can I run this so that it runs without retaining any data when it closes, or is being accessed by more than one user at a time? Thanks, sorry if its a stupid question.

Yayy I did the following and the helpdesk is back up on the Virtual Website, now I just have to work out why it's not appearing as the localhost/default. 1: when trying to access the firewall to check I hadn't been stupid and left it on, I couldn't access it because of ipnat conflict. So it could still have been something to do with this. 2. Device Manager -> View -> Show hidden devices -> Non-Plug and Play Drivers, disabled IP Network Address Translator also 3. Remote Routing and Access -> disabled Restarted Machine, IIS reset just in case, and then lo and behold I could ping out and in to the router, and after a few tweaks with baseUrls in my settings.asp file I could open up the helpdesk again. Now I have to figure out how to get it to load as http://localhost/default or http://localhost/helpdesk and then get it to be accessible for teachers :-S

Ok so when I browse on hdesktest (the virtual website I set up, now I get nothing, it just hangs. But when I visit localhost/hdesktest it works fine. on the actual folder struture of helpdesk, if I access this on localhost, it lets me get to the logon screen but then gets the 'website under construction' page after I've entererd a valid username and password... It was getting to the hdesktest site in IIS using browse before I added it to the domain, I'm not sure why I'm not getting to it now... ooh but finally it does get to the IP/hdesktest and returns a timed out error..
