Indeed - although I don't *think* there's any way to get amazon bought books on in that way, I have done it with various 3rd party ebooks. I've also used amazon's email-to-kindle (obviously needs net access on kindle) when the nearest USB cable was upstairs. The lazy man's friend.

Would recommend going for 3g in any case, as you might find it works with the proxy, but not NTLM, or something equally irritating. Ah... you need to tell the smoothwall proxy that it is allowed to access ports other than 80/433. This is *probably* a setting on the proxy page... on the commercial product it is called "Allow access to web servers on these additional ports". Sorry, don't have an express VM to hand

Andrew, guardian > filtering > per group settings. Block invalid SSL certificates: (this would catch this as a minimum) I assume you have up-to-date blocklists - see system > licences

Are you trying to go through the web proxy? Which version of Smoothwall are you running?

Andrew, It should be blocked - I suggest you are missing one or more HTTPS defences - you should use at least cert checking in any environment where proxies are prevalent.

Well, back to tha laptop. Verdict: the link-heavy nature of the site (note i didnt use the mobile version) makes navigation hard with a "jumpy" pointer (kindly pings you from link to link). Screen refresh being so slow is not much of a problem. No problems logging in or searching. Minimal glitching. Hitting post resulted in a "try again in 30s" error... but I did, and it worked. Maybe becuase this machine is logged in as me behind the same NAT? Other than that, reading the board was pleasant enough, if sluggish (CPU bound probably.. this was on wifi rather than 3g). Using page-next button to move through posts was good. Even Dos_box's image of the danger hiptop rendered ok. Did expect it to be "phone like" and capitalise after punctuation mind. Dunno why, given the semi-complete kb. Speaking of which, you have to g softkey for a comma. Bah. No wonder kids these days are cack at punctuation. Dos_box - was I the 1st knindle?

@mattx, I have not seen the Navaho system for a long long time, so it may have changed a lot. Sounds like you are using it in a very "integrated" way (ie. it is acting as a mail client?) - you may struggle to find a "drop in" replacement if that's the case, and it may even be the case that you are better off with a couple or 3 products from different vendors working together to cover all the bases. As for us at SmoothWall - we can offer web filtering (thanks for the recommendation Kim!) and email anti-spam/anti-malware filtering. Yes - something fairly fundamental - you need to actually RUN the sql, not just print it! Also, the SQL would seem to be looking for the number of users, as long as it's over 1000. Odd. Have you tried reading the tutorials on PHP/mysql? Beaten to it - phil's answer looks reasonable - he's actually running the sql, although for either of us to get it "right" we'd need to know how the table is organised and what data you want.
