Again, from Podium: I have suggested they float around on here a bit more - hopefully we'll see some Podium Presence - must reiterate that they've behaved much better than other vendors when we go talk to them about interoperability. Just hope the fix works ok now!

Can't see any indication there's a further charge for worldwide roaming. Sure they'd have to fess up if there was one. Oddly enough their cell map shows 3G coverage in Nairobi, but not right on the centre of the town - in fact more out towards where i'll be. Hmmm. Error in lat-long conversions or oddly placed 3g mast? i'll find out Re: games: have you tried "good old games"? (gog.com) - I got a few off there, and it is good & cheap.

Suggestion from nice folk @ Podium: Try adding the following code into the section of C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\machine.config I was a bit fearful that their tech support would tell me to go jump in the lake, or not really be able to help - but they are friendly and knowledgeable, so +1 podium. Edit: This fix may work for other .Net applications by the looks.

I have heard tell that local honey can help hay fever - worth trying this out on a few afflicted students? I think you need to be eating it reg'lar up until hay fever season though. You may need to poke the Smoothie's cert out as trusted in group pol - that'll sack that off ok i'd have thought! (OK, maybe the portals only hard for me to set up because i'm a bit tic)

Jon, Use the force... er I mean the portal. The portal allows users access to a very limited subset of controls, but luckily room blocking is one of them. The portal is accessed by your AD username - so you will not need to create extra accounts. It is a bit of a **** to work out at first, and is well hidden under the "services" menu. If you need a hand, give us a bell!

Have emailed podium to see if they're up for a game of "solvey solvey". Hmm.

Seems that Podium and Squid (our proxy) don't get on. Will see if anything might happen on that front - but it looks like podium should drop to using HTTP 1.0, but doesn't. Hmm. Podium seems like it could use FTP instead - is that an option? Your smoothie can install an FTP proxy (though you will need to ask support for a download).

Perhaps try allowing the podium IP "direct" through the firewall with no proxy? Then unset podium's proxy settings. Have asked in support if anyone knows a better trick.

Sounds like it might be wanting you to pass through its authentication.. what's podium actually trying to do at the far end?

Vigor 120 *should* work from the spec. I'll see if i can get one and make support bite the bullet first before recommending it!

It's a hard call - they keep discontinuing the good stuff and replacing it with cheap We're working on finding a decent adsl2+ internal, there's some aussie chappies building one that might "do a job". I'll see what support think - we use linksys AM200 in the office, but they are also discontinued afaik

Luke, Try the bandwidth limiting feature? You could limit youtube urls to a specific amount of bandwidth.
