[voip] Putting a voip setup on a flat network
tom_newton replied to Oaktech's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Back in the Smoothwall office on John Charles way (2 offices ago) I put in voip on a flat, 100Meg, unmanaged network. Breakout to PSTN was on a fractional ISDN. Never a sniff of a problem - we had least cost routing to the Soton and Charlotte offices over VPN too. I did enjoy that system. -

Numpty guide to set up BYOD with Smoothwall

The first part is getting usernames into the smoothie - dont worry about groups (which is where idex comes in) until you have sorted that. You want to be seeing users pop up in logged in users. That involves getting the radius accounting pointed at the smoothwall from the APs. Once that's working, its downhill from there. -

Holiday Time Safeguarding Monitoring
tom_newton replied to mitchell1981's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
It's a tricky one, for sure. One of the ways some folks solve it is to use an assisted service like Smoothwall Monitor - this way you know you will get a phone call for anything urgent, so the fear of not being connected to your email 24x7 is lowered. -

The short answer is that you need to set up radius accounting on the Aruba, and point that at the Smoothwall - which will then pick up those messages. If you are struggling do call in to your CSM and they can arrange someone to help you (if you dont know who that is, drop me a PM and I will find them) -
No, that's fine - they can be configured to automatically bypass the on-prem box if needed when cloud filter is active

Smoothwall users can always use cloud filter - that's part of your setup by default. Others can always add Smoothwall cloud filter just for staff if it would be useful.

Impero Extension in Chrome
tom_newton replied to Jawloms's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Yes, Mv3 is HARD. We had our filter agent out last July, but we have still been fixing edge cases right through until recently. Having said that, by coming to the party late, they've probably missed out on google taking something away, jumping through unpleasant hoops to mitigate that, and then google bringing it back! My advice would be to get this tested as soon as you possibly can -
Now getting MacOS back to "as far as it will go normally". Then openlegacy patcher..

We've not really shifted our prices too much in a long while - so this is a bit of a surprise. Happy to discuss individual details in private! -
