SIMS: Manage support staff absence without giving Personnel access.
Sivadam replied to pete's topic in MIS Systems
That shows the REAL Value of CRs! And pushing at meetings, field trials, UATs etc. etc. by those that do attend! I brought it up in the Field Trial days - and it was obviously well supported. I also think that my Permissions thread helped to push it too! -
We are on 6.124 from Autumn Main Release. We have to be in line with the LA and so our FMS is often a version or two behind SIMS.
-
Why not create the Report via Reports, Lesson Monitor, Letters, Print letters. These at set up via Tools, Setups, Attendance Setup, Letter definition. You can set up whatever report that you want to via this route - it does not have to be a letter. We have loads of pre-defined reports in this section - both for sessions and for lessons. It may or may not be able to pick up the data you want (it does not do a Reg Cert type report). Josh - there are many examples where you can do reports across date ranges, from many different parts of SIMS. The above is just one example.

Have you tried giving School Administrator and then adding the P7 Permissions that I highlighted in the permissions thread on SupportNet? -

There are some Basic Personnel Groups that you can use now. Try Personnel Events Officer - this is what it is for! Failing that then you can check on the Group I created way back in the Cover7 Field Trial days. There is a thread re this on supportnet - Permissions (13183) -
Thank you. The following may also be of interest to some of you as well:- CR No.0902-477833 (Profiles Review via SLG). This one does have quite a bit of support already.
-
When you do get on then look at:- KB67541 It is rather verbose for what is a simple solution! Sorry - I don't do doubt - only certainty!!
-
Of course! How could anybody doubt it?
-
It could also be a classic case of 'Duplicate Staff' caused by somebody who has not used the 'Managing Classroon Staff' routine correctly. See SupportNet for details! Both the Forums and Solution Search!
-
Class Teacher group permissions!
-
The change request that I was asked to log via my Support Case at the time, because this feature is not available, is CR 0903-492021. This is not well supported - presumably because, at that time, there were relatively few Capita SLG Hosted Service members (if any!). So ....... If there are some on here that want the same then get voting! Maybe I should resurrect one of the SupportNet threads now too!

Because a Register and AM7 Marksheet can be displayed and marked a few lines at a time it isn't an issue. You could do Profiles7 Reports as well but the success of that would depend how good the display was. Touch based devices - I ain't sure but I am certain that Paul Metcalfe would be able to enlighten you. I am still trying to get our leadership team to invest in some mobile devices so that Pe, Geography, History etc. etc. can record data and mark registers offsite/on playing field etc. etc.! Not sure I will win that one before I retire - especially with our lack of resources!
-
No thank you re. Bromcom! And yes you can mark registers using a mobile device using SLG. We also had one member of staff complete her AM7 Assessments on her Blackberry on the way to school one morning on the bus! And that is from a person who is normally late with everything and HATES using a computer!
-
Unless this has changed recently then it will not work on Capita Hosted Service. We have wanted to try and get a site usage report for over a year now, since SLG2 first became available!
-
Not bad at all ... ! Maybe it'll pursuade some of you 'doubters' to now go and check out a live system!
-
Do you mean Dog and Partascus? .... and I operate on a plane much higher than those two ....
-
Hope u ain't dis-lecks-sic then Vic!
-
Yep! I was in on the original planning and tested the first build. Unfortunately, I could not attend the recent testing for Spring Release (Exams Officer off ill since before Xmas!) that has Phase 1 of the Reports - relating to Classes, Groups etc. I think you will all like it!
-
NT4 is still supported for Reporting Purposes only - until Spring 2011 when the new NT4 Type reports will all be available (from Summer 2010 Upgrade). See the SIMS 2010 Roadmap!

We have to modify all our Templates as a matter of course, because the Data Collection Result Sets for time slots in advance of the current one are hidden until needed. Once a new set of columns is 'unhidden' the previous Result Set columns are locked! So the Data Manager can edit the marksheets by 'Unticking' as part of this ongoing process. Yep! - It is a long job but does save time in the long run.
-
Get the Teachers into the habit of ticking the 'Marksheet Complete' box. If you then edit the Report Template 'Marksheets Complete Flag', in the Marksheet Focus, to include the Result Set you require (or other filter) then you may more easily find missing marks. It depends on getting your Teachers 'trained' tho'! That may require a strong manager to exert their influence, so that staff are folowing the school policy!

Log In as Sysman. There is the option to Change Password at LogIn Screen. Else get the person with access to change the Passwords to change it for you. I can change ours! Can't see your request in FMS Forum of SupportNet .... .... then again I wouldn't if you happen to be from a Support Unit as use mere schools get a different version of SupportNet.
-
There is no default setup or Option to do this. One wonders why this is required. It would have several disadvantages as far as I can see.
-
I had missed that one. I see it's been there since November 2009!
