  1. One once again wonders why folk would use this Forum for such request as opposed to using SupportNet ........... !

    MIS System

What's in a definition .......... ? I would not describe myself as a data manager! I reckon I manage people more than data! I am line manager for our Data Manager, Exams Officer, Attendance Officer .... etc etc etc. Then again I am responsible for producing the most importamt bit of data - the timetable (as well as other such nuggets!).

    MIS System

Yes we need the Technical experts too! But the SIMS Manager is the main guy and without that person having a thorough working knowledge of every section of SIMS (or any other MIS I assume) then it is impossible to get the most from the system. Neither Data Manager or Infrastructure Manager would normally have this breadth of detailed knowledge. I cannot fault either our Data Manager or our ICT Services Manager - they are excellent. But it is somebody like myself that needs to coordinate the show!

Nah! Data managers don't know usually enough to maximise the system. (Apologies to all data managers out there!). You need somebody who knows far far more than that! Obviously depending on what you mean by a data manager!

But we ALL love SIMS here - and if they don't then I soon re-educate them!
  6. As I have posted in SupportNet before now - it is just 'SIMS Health & Safety Module' kicking in, to remind you that you have been doing summat for far too long. It shuts down so that you can make a cup of coffee and rest your eyes and brain!
  7. It happens in all areas of SIMS if you are doing repeated actions for a long time. The issue has been with us all for a very long time. We think we have almost isolated exactly where the problem lies but we are testing it before we get back to Capita with a new case. Clue:- Stick more memory in the workstation and you will get a longer period of time before it crashes!
  8. As explained in a post above:- You have to Tick the AM7 Template that you wish the results to be displayed from. I have a CR on SupportNet to 'Tick the Aspects' that you want to show as it may be inconvenient to display a whole Marksheet. It is No. 0904-505192. The advice at the moment is to produce special marksheets with the info you want displaying!
  9. Are you sure it is not just hidden? It would seem daft not to install it! To Unhide:- The administrator will be able to see it if it is installed. Then click Site Actions from top Right Menu. Edit Page. Open up the Layout. Then untick the Hidden box

    MIS System

SIMS - Brilliant! And you don't have to individually install on each workstation! Solus 3 is now with us!
  11. Well well ....... Methinks I identifed that could be the issue in a previous post!
  12. You should be on EO v6.76! (Autumn Release) Not sure of the version if you have applied the Autumn Update - we can't until Capita Hosted SLG is upgraded first, scheduled for Saturday.
  13. No Problem Dan. Glad to help! I just hope that there is no other problem on your network/setups to make me lose my bet!
  14. ....Yes! I know that Phil Neal will vouch for the expertise of at least one person on there .............
  15. One wonders why ppl post SIMS Technical questions here without consulting SupportNet - where the real SIMS experts usually are ...........
  16. If you are on Autumn Upgrade then you should be using Version 12. This is the version that all exam Boards should be using. No good blaming the MIS porividers for this! There was enough documentation about it in August re. GCSE imports, which were in Version 11 then! We could not upgrade until we were certain we had all the results! Get on to the relevant exam board and demand the correct version! Which Boards are involved? Our imports worked ok yesterday with AQA!
  17. Can other Edugeek Users please note that I will not be offering this level of support through Edugeek again. That is reserved for SupportNet! This is a one-off!
  18. It won't harm to Update Course memberships anyway ..... ...... but I bet that when they log in tomorrow that the Revue will be active for them!
  19. They will have to be done via Course Manager now!
  20. If it isn't used then don't reactivate it. If you have courses missing then you can add them in. For the future you really need the Timetabler to ensure that Levels are attached in NT6!
  21. The Timetabler should have set up the Levels in NT6. When the Timetable is sent to SQL it automatically sets up the courses. This probably has not been done. You can Activate the courses again from within Course Manager.
  22. Tools, Academic Management, Course Manager, Maintain Course. Search for the Courses. Double click a Course. In Panel 4 Add a Supervisor as a HOD via New. This all depends on whether your courses are also set up correctly! I would prefer to continue this via SupportNet if at all possible. That is the real place to discuss SIMS issues so that other users may benefit.
  23. You no doubt have full rights to Profiles7 and so can see all the Reports in Review Mode. If HODs have been set up under Course Manager and the Profiles Comment/Banks & Session are linked to the Courses (which they have to be to get the classes) then a HOD can see the reports under the Review Mode automatically. Your SLT will also be able to see ALL the Profiles Reports.
  24. The idea of Review Mode is that all the Profiles reports can be checked, approved or rejected by Senior Staff. If you reject the report (un-approve it!), or a section of it, then it automatically becomes available again for the class teacher to edit it. In other words you can make eveything available again should you so wish! How were you going to check them anyway? Using Review Mode is the most efficient way of doing this - once you get your head around how it works. One member of our LT checks all the Reports for a single Reg Group. It is possible for HODs to check their departments (assuming these are set up in Course Manager). HOYs and other Pastoral Staff can check their years (assuming they are set up in Pastoral Management) etc etc etc. Unfortunately the Review Mode is not available via SLG yet!
  25. Looks like you need to register a new Case with Support! I have not seen this reported in SupportNet Forums and it most likely would have been if it was a general fault!
