  1. Or you can opt for the Capita SLG Hosted Service!
  2. Profiles can be written too! From today some SEN is displayed and this can be shown on Class Registers along with G&T. From today Cover is displayed! Behaviour and Report Card is available from Autumn 2010! AM& Reports and Profiles Reports can be bulk published in .pdf format for parental access from Autumn 2010! Get out and see it in Action! What do you want to do that it can't?
  3. Once everything has been set up then it happens automatically on the first day of the new Academic Year.
  4. Yes. Ensure that the timetable is written and sent to SIMS correctly!
  5. And the cost of the yearly Capita £50 licence should be included within the costs/profits of the photographer. If you take the photos yourself then I believe you can buy the licence yourself to enable bulk upload from Tutor Group folders.
  6. Why not just give them direct access to SIMS. They could then mark the registers that way - and obviously benefit from the photos being available on the register! It would also save your Admin Staff a lot of wasted hours inputting from paper lists! If you really need to print them for a casual supply teacher then do it directly from Cover7.
  7. The Software Consultation Meetings are run by the Capita Product Managers. They are usually advertised on SupportNet and Users can volunteer to attend! See Resource 16890 on SupportNet. Unfortunately I could not attend this one but I was invited to submit my ideas re. the CRs which I have subsequently done!
  8. All the most popular CRs are analysed for discussions at the Software Consultation meetings each year!
  9. Yours truly has strongly supported this request! Some colleagues at Capita agree that the CR section needs rationalising. They have to sort out the many different CRs on the same theme in readiness for the Software Consultation meetings each year!
  10. This is one of the main reasons I pursuaded this school to opt out of LA Support and move to direct support from Capita. We have never regretted it! Then again, both my technical colleague and myself are both highly experienced and knowledgable in (between us) virtually all aspects of SIMS.
  11. There is a standard LM/Attendance Report that lists changes to Registration Marks but it does not record who first input the Mrak. This report has been available for good many years now. There should also be another report that lists who made the original entry.
  12. We have not had the problem here and we update Microsoft regularly.
  13. Have you downloaded Version 6.0M (the latest version)?
  14. If it is an HP Printer then it is a known issue with certain models! If you are a SIMS school you ought to be using Cover7 by now. Cover in NT4 has not been supported for a good while!
  15. I am not sure Matt. But they don't seem to have a problem. It's only a few weeks ago that I uploaded our data for the Timetable Reporting Workshop, testing the new functionality for the Summer Release.
  16. We have logged 54 Cases since we upgraded to the new Server in February. All have been resolved by Capita except the two that will be sorted via the Summer Upgrade, the Patch that is currently being tested (that will probably benefit you all!) and the one Case that is still ongoing! Yes! Capita have remoted in on a couple of occasions. None of the Cases are affected by R2 and most are as a result of me testing and finding issues with new Upgrades! I guess you will all have some of the patches that have resulted as a result of some of my cases. I don't recommend you all jump into R2 however! You must know what you are doing! And 'No!' it isn't supported yet! I should point out that we are a SIMS Partnership school and a UAT Associate School! If 'owt goes wrong because of R2 then we will sort it. And the info would be passed on to Capita.
  17. As I keep saying:- It is working fine here! There again - we do have myself and my excellent ICT Services colleague to sort SIMS between us!!!
  18. Is that a local issue? It works ok here! See:- Home address problems again? (27396) on SupportNet
  19. Yes there is! And one wonders why one would want to move away from such a powerful product as Profiles ...... !
  20. This is a copy of the info but it ought to be read in the context of the SupportNet Thread! I posted the following to another thread re. this topic, but here it is again:- This is a direct quote by Phil Neal on Edugeek:- http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/53518-sims-server-side-64-bit-2.html Not sure what's been said by whom and have made sure that the desks know the position which is: We support both 64 and 32 bit variants of Windows Server 2003 and 2008 and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future as many schools have 32 bit Servers. We do not currently support Windows Server 2008 R2 for SIMS and have no plans to do so in 2010 but we will be supporting this for SLG (for the Application tier and ADPS server) from the Summer 2010 release. We (Handsworth Grange) are using it with no problems. If we get problems then I am told that we will just install a version of R1 and transfer the database! That is my highly knowledgable Technical colleague speaking!
  21. Check out my Post on Page 2 of the following on SupportNet:- SQL 2008 R2 is out May 2010 (26323)
  22. As EDU-IT says, if InTouch could be integrated into SLG AND if they manage to develop the same functionality as Schoolcomms (especially the Read/Write to first day absence routine) then maybe I would be interested. They have a lot a of catching up to do though. I also wonder what will happen to the relationship that Schoolcomms and Capita have (if they in fact do have one!). After all, the Schoolcomms link is on the HomePage of every SIMS User!
  23. Exactly! Schoolcomms can be installed on External Machines and there is a web version which also now has Ecard functionality! Capita are trying to recreate something that one of their main Partners already has in place. It will be interesting how this develops!
  24. No. This is different. I will be attending a Workshop at Capita next month to look at the functionality of the Extra Curricular functionality. I will know more after that but the idea is to manage those activities that are not a normal part of the Curriculum. Not to be confused with 'Extended Services' or 'Alternative Curriculum' which is now not on the roadmap (or shouldn't be!). InTouch is Capita's version of Text/Email messaging. We currently use Schoolcomms and I was hoping that Capita would adopt this as their official communication package rather than developing their own. It remains to be see if the new InTouch will have all of Schoolcomms functionality!
