  1. If this is OCR then you better check that you have the correct Basedata Set. They may have issued a second version. They had to for one Series because they got it wrong!
  2. Try using the link on S2S website.
  3. You just need to ensure that any new staff have been Input and are 'On Roll' in NT4 and that any that have left are 'deleted'. Also ensure that any new Subjects have also been added into NT4. Then run the 'Export to NT4' routine from an up-to-date NT6 Dataset. In NT4 you then just run the 'Import from NT6' routine. If you have missed any Staff/Subjects then NT4 will soon tell you this! The New NT4 type Reports in SIMS are run from:- Reports, Timetables. The Options there are supposed to mimic all the Reports from NT4. A few are not yet present as they failed the Testing phase (partly because of them not coping with my dataset containing Sub-Bands). Also, some of the reports do not generate correctly and others need the default to be edited. A 'polishing project' is needed before the full functionality of NT4 is complete. I would regard all these tasks as the responsibility of the Timetabler, which here is yours truly! (Amongst other many and varied responsibilities!). Most 'Admin Staff' would most probably not have this knowledge at this moment in time. By the sounds of it - neither have your Local Support Team! However - I may be doing them a great dis-service by saying that, and they do know the new Reporting intimately! If they cannot replicate the NT4 Reports then you can very easily update NT4.
  4. NovaT4 is still supported by Capita for Reporting purposes and hence can still be used. It is a simple matter to just update the staff and then export the timetable from NT6 to NT4. Alternatively. the new NT4 type Reports in SIMS will deliver the same data once you get your head around how to use it!
  5. If you are new to using SIMS then you may find it more helpful to Register with Capita SupportNet if you have not already done so. http://support.capitaes.co.uk/newlogin/login.asp There are many helpful and knowledgable people using the Forums there. It isn't often I respond to simple questions such as this on these Forums. I am in very real danger of losing my last Red Square at this rate! God forbid if I turn Green again! My reputation would be in tatters!
  6. This is a very simple report to set up in the Staff Focus of Reporting. Just add a sub-report of Lessons and then select 'Subject of Class'. You will then need to untick 'Include all records .....' and tick 'Display first record only' via the data Field Screen filter on 'Lessons'. Then just add in a filter for Subject or Subject Code on the same screen.
  7. If you are looking at the assignment across the whole Academic Year then, obviously, they will appear. If you are using a date range after the date these pupils were made to leave then they will not show. This has already been explained in a post above!
  8. If you have not already got one then just set up a simple report from the Staff Focus (Staff, All Current) of Reporting.
  9. SimsKitten, I would advise you to join Capita SupportNet. http://support.capitaes.co.uk/newlogin/login.asp And if you are using SIMS then you really ought to get some training. This is not really the best place for you to get advice from and working from only superficial knowledge in this area is a very dangerous thing!
  10. The Photograph Importer facility in SIMS .net requires that the images should be displayed with 256 colours and be 480 pixels wide by 640 pixels high for optimum resolution. Photos of a larger size may well import but if there are a significant number, the import routine may hang. The minimum size should be 140 by 180 pixels. They need to be .jpg .gif or .bmp
  11. I would assume that, at this time of the Academic Year, the Timetable is the same for each rotation up until July. With the changes that probably have to be made via many Maintenance Datasets over the year I would have thought that it is a pretty useless exerecise to try and do this? Or have I missed the point of what you want to do? Our Timetable year has not yet started (it begins tomorrow!) but I already have a Maintenance Dataset ready to kick in on Monday. There will be several more over the next week or so - not to mention over the next 11 months!
  12. Ha Ha! I bet you did not expect that response, Banjo. All you have to do now is go and pursuade all the Exam Boards to agree as well! (and all the other MIS suppliers too!)
  13. Agreed! What a bonus that Capita got Charles Bailey back in so that these issues could be identified early yesterday and measures could be put in place to try sort them before today! Thanks Charles, on behalf of all SIMS Schools! We all miss him and his ability to sort the Exam Boards out! One wonders why exam boards still manage to create files that do not meet the standard criteria! Mind you, one other exam board that often causes issues seems to have been quite good this year!
  14. Sorry! You cannot add the Ex-Users to a new Group. You can only add Users to a group. However, the way to view them is via 'Add Existing People as Users ..' Then Select Ex-Users. You can't get a report of these though! One would assume that Ex-Users will now include any parents who have been uprovisioned from SLG once the pupils have left.
  15. Set Up a new Group (say Old Users) Add Users to it by selecting People and then Ex-Users. You probably will not want a list of them all so change the dates you want to query.
  16. I don't think anybody would disagree with that last sentiment! And that's me done on this Thread!
  17. You may be correct about what is best to use (though I would have thought a choice would be better made at local level!) but that is no reason for knocking those who do want to give away something that they no longer want to use. Where would Oxfam be if people followed your principles? "Sorry I can't pass on these unwanted clothes because the elbows might wear out in a couple of years?"
  18. Sorry Matt. Obviously yours is ultra efficient - as, no doubt, are those whose reps I meet at UAT. Are they all as efficient tho'? Judging from some of the comments I see on SupportNet School Forums, I suspect that some are not up to your illustrious standard! Hey - have you noticed my Reputation Red Squares gradually disappearing? If I ain't carefull they will go green again! My reputation will then be in tatters!
  19. Unfortunately I have to totally disagree with that statement. Support here is nothing short of excellent! Do you use Capita direct Support or a Local Helpdesk?
  20. Because SIMS bought out Nova and have developed it further so that it is more integrated with SIMS. NT6 is simply a Timetable construction package and all Class Groupings etc are now done within SIMS itself. Similarly, all Timetable and Group Reports are being moved into SIMS and so these are not part of NT6 either (or need not be in terms of the timetable reports - tho' Timetablers will still need these!) Previous incarnations of Nova included a fully functioning database which, for many years, has been able to import the pupil data from SIMS (and any other MIS or Pupil database!). The more powerful NT6 is not designed to do this. As for NT4 rusting. I bet it continues to work for very many years to come! There are those in the UK that have been using it for Construction purposes for the past couple of years when it was not supported for this purpose! To stop them doing so the export to SQL had to be switched off. One wonders why you are critical of a company like Capita trying to help out by donating this software. I assume there will be no compulsion on anybody to use it if they have access to something else! At least it will be available to them! And I admire those that have offered to help by supporting it. I was actually approached directly to do this but, for various personal reasons, I regrettably had to decline.
  21. Also try refreshing the basedata and then re-trying the import!
  22. Have you tried importing the file directly on the server? Nobody has logged this on SupportNet Forums yet!
  23. Not so much 'rare' nowadays - more like 'well done'! One only wishes one could be 'rare' again! 'Sigh!'
  24. Fair comment TechMonkey! I wasn't rying to be facetious when alluding to me never trying to print a blank document - just explaining that, as far as I can remember, I had never attempted to do so. There are quite a number of Exams Officers active on SupportNet Forums at the moment. Maybe there would be more answers if this query was posted there as well.
  25. Those scraps from the table happen to make up an excellent program!
