Is anyone having the same problem this morning, Importing Edexcel AS and A2 results for Maths from Edexcel it is coming up with a E6 error in SIMS, this seems to be an unknown mark. Does anyone know how to fix this problem, as edexcel seems to be a bit busy at the present moment. Cheers

Yep just as I thought, a Spreadsheet it is then. Cheers.

I was recording a production last night and a member of Senior Management came up to me and asked the following. "Is it possible for Students to enter personal targets directly into SIMS, and then we can run reports based on this data?" My reply was, "I'll investigate and come back to you". Students having write access to any part of SIMS, AHHHHHHHHHHH. I think the only real way of doing this is to create a spreadsheet that can be imported into Assessment i presume. Any comments or ideas would be gratefully received. Cheers

Yep, I have had that but it has been so infrequent that I kinda fix it and then forget about it. It would be nice to know what causes the problem, the only thought I had was that a reboot while it was upgrading SIMS.

Yep, it looks like it is a Solus 3 Issue, put it out to about 20 machines to test, but being a silly sausage, specified the incorrect path for SIMS, so it remapped my sims drive to the setups folder, and it seems that it is these workstations that are constantly writing temp files to this folder. I find that a little worrying. To top it all the GUI for solus 3 keeps crashing out and when you finally get back in, normally a day later it dosen't then recognise machines with the agent installed until you try and install it again. Bah humbug, I hope the new version isn't as bad as this. Oh yeah I also found out that if you do a fresh install Using Solus 3, it dosen't create an entry in Add/Remove, so that causes a small problem when you have to reinstall it. Cheers

Does anybody have any idea where and what this folder is in my SIMS Setups Folder. Full Path \SIMS\Setups\SIMS, when I first found it, it was 50gb in size. In there is the following Folders: Attend, Documentation, Manifest Files, OPTIONS and SNOVA. In Documentation is PDF's relating to SIMS, but what is taking up the space are hundreds of ~GLH.tmp, these temp files are what are taking up the space, so as they were temp files and the dates were old I deleted them. The end you may think but no. they are automatically restored. (AHHHHHHHHHH). It is currently at 3.47gb. I have found another one of these files in the main SIMS folder but it is has no temp files in it. Any suggestions gratefully received. Cheers

It seems that Linguascope Online requires AR too, I am currently using Foxit, have put on AR6 for Accelerated Reading, but now we have two resources that require it, I am considering putting on 9.2, has anyone found out if the prob is fixed or do we still have to wait until 2010.

I was wondering if someone can answer a question for me, A member of our Headship team, has created several groups with bespoke permissions, e.g. Teaching staff access without special needs info or medical information of pupil data, this he has done, this works fine in SIMS.net but when the teacher then uses the SLG (Hosted) and they try to access their marksheets they get an unlicenced error. Now my question is this, does anybody know whether SLG only recognises the default groups or does it take into account user defined ones also. Cheers in advance

As yet an error when a user first goes in, which I'm not worried about as it lets them into SIMS anyway, I was just trying to get some sort of confirmation that there is no more nastys in SIMS, that will stop hard working SIMS users from getting on with their daily lives.

I just need a question answered, if anyone knows. I have now come across the problem with Adobe 9. so have removed it and installed Foxit instead, my question is this, does anyone know if SIMS requires adobe, as far as I am aware it is only used for that splash screen the first time a user upgrades. Any help gratefully received. Cheers

I thought I would have a go at setting up a Pserver using Linux, the schools first, all well and good now that I have got Debian Etch on the machine, tried it with Ubuntu, Cups was unavailable, anyway I seem to have got myself in a bit of a rut, I have got as far as going to install Pykota, it gets as far as trying to download the files, but is unable to talk to the Server to download so I installed that bit manually, but now it is trying to download GhostPCL_1.41p1.tar.bz2, but it looks like the mirror is down. My question is is there anywhere else I can get this file. I have searched, all I can find is the current version, which I do not have the knowledge to use. Any ideas please. Cheers

Could someone assist, have spoken to Capita, apparently no one has ever asked this before, How do you make User-Defined Fields in Pupil Details to be read-only for Staff, Have looked at all Permissions, there dosen't seem to be one specific for UDF's. Yet when you look at the Permissions spreadsheet it clearly has groups who have read only to these fields. Where do you set it? I have everything else set to read-only or view as they call it. Cheers.
