As with any other new functionality, what is actually in the first main release depends on how the Field Trial progresses. Discover is on the Roadmap for general release in Spring. This release will be UAT tested before it is released as well as the Field Trial testing of the Autumn Release! It may be that one school/LA finds a major issue with the software when used with their own data - as I did at UAT, testing SLG for Autumn Release, on Friday. It then depends on how quickly the development team can amend any issue that may be found. The issue of reconciliation of all types of UDG was raised at the Field Trial Launch meeting - but this is obviously outside the scope of the Discover project!
-
DUDGs will not be replacing standard UDGs. Rather they will be additional. And we'll have 'Discover' available with the Autumn release for Field Trial testing, though some of the functionality has been delayed until the Spring Release!

We hit a snag! You have to use Windows Authentication rather than SQL Authentication! Uninstalling and starting again soon!

Office 2010 is due to be supported from Spring 2011! 'KB96979 - Do Capita support Windows Server 2008 R2?' tells us that:- 'We (Capita) will be supporting Server 2008 R2 domain and forest functionality from the Summer 2010 release.' I assume that this has happened - it doesn't mention it in the Summer Release notes even though the KB does say to check that document!
-
Notice that there is still no reference to support for SQL Server 2008 R2! We are only just trying the SOLUS3 install later today. One wonders if this Trial will throw a spanner in the works for the COB Release date! Have you already run this Matt?
-
Well it was working at the time of my last post but I can't get in now!
-
It seems to have been ok from here again. I have even logged a case successfuly with no issues.
-
NovaP is still available though I have never used it. Oh Dear! You mentioned CMIS ......... ......... Ah Well!
-
It's a very long time since I used Nova DOS!
-
And if it ain't then just keep an old laptop ready to run NT4 on - for any reports that have not been converted by then!
-
Agreed! It does need sorting!
-
NovaT4 is still supported by Capita for reporting purposes. Some of the NT4 Reports into SIMS failed the testing phase and so do not yet appear in SIMS Reporting. The obvious one is the Year Timetable. This report could not cope with the complexity of my Timetable with it's Bands and Sub-bands. Hence the advice from the testing meeting was that it was not released at all! Other Reports are still not functioning correctly yet. It remains to be seen if support for NT4 can be removed from Spring Release - as per the Roadmap. If I am not satisfied with all the reports when the Spring Release is tested then I, for one, will be pushing for an extension to NT4 Support! Users of SupportNet will have seen the many threads on this Topic!
-
It is definitiely NOT supported for SIMS. It is supported for SLG - since June! Would one really want to risk using it if it is not supported ........ ???? Having said that - it does work! (well at least in one instance that I know of!). As for speed - it is rather quick - but you need a server with a spec to match!
-
Don't worry too much. The way things are going in this country the Post Office might get closed down!

I am experienceing the same issue now! Maybe I should stop advising people to use SupportNet!

[sims] "Print Timetables" in reports menu - which permission(s)/key(s)?
Sivadam replied to LosOjos's topic in MIS Systems
I realise that there is the anomaly of the Staff Initials/Names Key not appearing on the new Report. It has been noted. Hopefully a Polishing project will be forthcoming but I do know that these reports are still being worked on. One of the main reasons there is no Year Timetable Report is because the propsed one failed testing when I tested it with my data that has bands, sub-bands etc. I also agree that the default should not have been changed to the new system before the new reports were complete. I did not realise that this would happen. I really cannot remember now whether this report did contain the Staff Key at the Testing Phase. If it did not, then it will certainly have been recorded then! -
SupportNet seems ok now from here!

[sims] "Print Timetables" in reports menu - which permission(s)/key(s)?
Sivadam replied to LosOjos's topic in MIS Systems
NO! It is the Print Timetable Report that is only available to Timetabler and Curricular Manager! And these are also the very (and only!) people who can edit the new reports! As you say - see SupportNet and the Permissions Spreadsheet! -
One wonders what the restrictions will be on utilising NT4 after support ceases in Spring 2011 ............ Would one still have to be 'licensed' by Capita ......?

[sims] "Print Timetables" in reports menu - which permission(s)/key(s)?
Sivadam replied to LosOjos's topic in MIS Systems
I am not sure why you would want to use this facility and enable it for a user defined group of users. This is the old style of printing timetables! Why not use the new NT4 type printing instead? I know that some of these reports still need to be improved but they are now the default and, as such, are available to a vast array of users through normal permissions. The old style Print Timetables is going to be phased out anyway when the new style are finally sorted to replace NT4. -
Correct! The Manual is wrong. The Software works as per specification and is working correctly. I am just surprised that Curricular Manager has permission to change it as well. You simply cannot have anybody changing the default Timetables that the Timetabler has set up! That would render the functionality useless! The Timetable and Class/Group Reports are replacements for NT4 Reporting and, as such, must be controlled by the Timetabler!
-
As I have pointed out on SupportNet. - It does work! That is how the functionality is meant to work. Just don't click Default. Else you will be back to square one! And check the Permissions Spreadsheet for the Permissions! Timetabler & Curricular Manager!!
-
Workstation is ok!
-
That will not work unless there has been an actual change. There is no log of who recorded the first mark!
