  1. LOL. You had your answer on SupportNet 10 minutes after your intial post and 43 minutes before you posted it here! And well before you posted the second thread on the same theme!
  2. Anybody using SIMS ought to know about SupportNet. The solution search is very comprehensive and there is obviously a great depth of knowledge held by the SupportNet Forum Users. So if anybody out there is a SIMS User then I suggest they register with SupportNet if they have not already done so! SupportNet
  3. One assumes you had checked KB72254 from SupportNet before posting to this thread?? And Well done Creese! ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE This post was copied here from another thread regarding the reason 0 error as it went off topic.
  4. One assumes you had checked KB72254 from SupportNet before posting to this thread?? And Well done Creese!
  5. Maybe somebody should cream off the incorrect statements that appear on here. What is good for the goose is good for the gander!
  6. If you read my posts a little more carefully you will see that my comments are directed at an untrue statement. As for upgrades. There have been no issues here with any upgrade for a very long time. Then again - we are well covered here in the Software Working (me) and in the Technical area (My colleague!). And remember that I always take Upgrades at the earliest opportunity and they sometimes contain functionality that is not available to most other users! SIMS and the network should be configured so that Upgrades do not break anything! Hopefully, when we have tested SOLUS3 Part B in the summer, you will all have an easier ride re upgrades!
  7. akitajewsk, Have you not registered a case for this with your Support Desk?
  8. Sorry but just to correct you and others that may think on the same lines. What I object to is a post that states (about SIMS) "i dont know why we bother with it so many errors worst program ever" when it is patently obvious the real issue is with how the system has been set up. There is no point blaming software that is not being used efficiently! Yes, we all have problems but there are ways of explaining these that do not criticise the software that may elicit more of a helpful response. As users of SupportNet will appreciate! Thanks teejay - I have now amended my earlier post to contain the correct number 21,999! Typing the wrong number kinda led to the post losing it's impact! And contributors should be aware that I will continue to challenge anybody who attacks SIMS for no good reason. I will also agree with those that bring up real issues and, as many SIMS users know, I report such issues quite regularly to Capita Staff.
  9. Well said Creese! It was comments such that I highlighted that convinced me I should start contributing here in the first place. I know that there are faults with SIMS - as there are with every other MIS no doubt. I prefer to direct my criticisms directly to the staff at Capita. They are more likely to listen to an informed voice rather than repond to, what used to be very frequent, adverse (and often untrue) statements on forums such as this! Teejay - please clarify that to 21,999 schools can be wrong. I suspect that there would be very, very, very many of the other 21,999 that would argue with your statement tho'!
  10. One should not blame the software if one does not really understand how to set it up correctly ........... Should one? SIMS is a superb system! 22,000 schools cannot all be wrong!
  11. We are Field Trialling Phase 2 of SOLUS3 in August so it is worth the wait. Hopefully it will be a positive experience and then it will no doubt be made available for general release!
  12. Doesn't stop him delivering his presentation sat down though!
  13. Yep, I know that, but what I posted above did not originate from me ........
  14. The last time I spoke out to correct a wrong done against me here I had the whole thread deleted ................. Update. I may be wrong but maybe some individual posts have been deleted since I posted the above ........!!!
  15. Maybe if the DfE and the exam Boards stopped messing with the Exam Structures we could have EO7. Then they WOULD be able to look at System7. I doubt it will happen befor,e as much of the resource money for a System7 project would be wasted!
  16. Very succinct and very accurate! Well done Creese!
  17. Agreed. One only has to look at the Technical Forum on SupportNet to see the lack of understanding by some users! And that is just referring to the Technical side - a mere drop in the ocean of SIMS Understanding!
  18. Just a novice then?
  19. Just that SIMS is so vast and varied that it is difficult to have an overall understanding of all of it! You CANNOT just pick this up - unless of course you have a good mentor within the school who can help you along. It takes a great deal of time and experience to become proficient in all aspects of SIMS use. If you do not grasp the relationship between Timetable, Academic Management and the rest of SIMS you are totally screwed. I have helped some schools out who thought they were well organised only for me to explain to them that some of their basics were wrong! To understand SIMS totally is a massive learning curve! And the more you learn the more you realise how little you did actually know in the first place! To get the most out of SIMS you need a SIMS Manager in the school who does have this depth of knowledge that I describe!
  20. One reads with horror some of the posts in this thread. No wonder some schools get into a mess with their SIMS setups and data! (And I mean no offence to anybody on here!)
  21. Looks like they didn't manage to solve the problem of printing Year Timetables. It could not pick up all the sub-bands when we tested it. But at least they have listened to what we said and made sure the option is not there - we said it is best to be missing this routine rather than being present but not working properly! Both SIMS 7.132 and FMS 6.132 are working well. No problems yet!
  22. I think it's on the radar. I assume it will crop up at next week's SLG Consultation Meeting with Paul Metcalfe. I am looking forward to an updated SLG Roadmap.
  23. Not really a shame - just that SLG is very good!
  24. From what the visitors who have come here to see SLG in action say then the demo does not do it full justice!
  25. Still not a problem here! As reported in second post of the thread!
