we have 240 students 17 staff 1 windows server 45 desktops 10 laptops also responsible for projectors and other equipment.

one of the best people to call are ramsys or any other licencing comp as they tend to tell you in a you will understand microsoft just seem to quote there rules and can get confusing.

What is your role as IT Manager/Technician? i fix repair all computer and network probs including tvs vidios projectors overheads (most things eletrical except photo copeir and lights) What does your job involve? - Daily routine, what are you responsible for? i do 12 hours a week ( 40 most) and this involves backups and as discribed above i also pat test. also help with new sofware and hardware buying ( assisting ict cord) And what are your plans for the future in your current role? (the dreaded 5 year plan?!) hopefully getting more hours but i dont know yet?

i have had this issue if you have the coa (the sticker on the machine) it not a problem but if you dont you will need proof of purchase if this fail you can buy a licance under the schools agreement ie xp and if you have 95 installed its covered. ie when you renew your aggreement it will be vista but i know for a fact you dont have to install vista as i know a lot of people wont. i hope this helps.

if you cn turn off windows firewall totaly just to try and connect i have had a problem where i have opened the port open but rdp still dont work but when i swiched off windows firewall bingo it worked which ment it was tied down to windows firewall. also try to connect to pc via ip addy s sometimes for some reason it does not name resolve

i done one for christmas it used java but also set term date but got told to remove it as people we getting annoyed with it the one i got was same as link above dynamic drive countdown

i might be a stick in the mud here but what are the rules with google earth the last i heard you had to pay if you wanted it in a school enviroment i did not thing we were allowed to use it for free ?? please tell e if i am wrong we got asked to remove it for these reasons.

congrats at least some edugeeks are helping to get school numbers up good t shirt sloogan (edugeek helping ict in schools during the day helping to get school numbers up and night)edugeek its not a job its a lifestile.

i would like to recomend a good cable supplier and the reasons why 1) you can talk to them very helpfull and will give you the best deal they can and dont mind working with schools 2) very cheap and even cheaper if you are a school ask for a quote if and they will help. i dont know what postage is like as i picked what i ordered up as they were just down the road. there website is Cable universe if you like what you see pm me and i will give you there telephone number you can also email them from the site

the other thing to try is to disable windows firewall if it is enabled and then try to connect to it also what other firewalls does it have i know some issues with norton the other thing is what are you using to connect ie are you using name or ip try using ip address of the machine and see if that works i know some naming probs cause it.

i know i am being silly here but one thing i found when i first tried was that the allow remote desktop box was not ticked ( the easy ones are the first ones i miss) i know during one of the updates diabled the function again. prob not that but hay we have all missed the small things once

they did say that on the stand and it is easer for kids but the bit you will be paying for when you buy the software is the space on there site as you are giving area to post pods as it were on there site. you can change the option to your site but i dont know if you are locked in to still paying for there site?? but it is easy and good to use if you want any info pm me. i do know they do have a very good support system in place and are very helpful as they are the same people who do textease studio ct and i have never had a problem with it . Also i know if you get a site licence you can deploy it via gpo and if you ask them they will create you a file (if you buy a site licence) to deploy the reg files so you dont need to regester it on every machine.

thats the one i like the way it works as when i am using my cpu it does not seem to. i have never had a problem with it. if you dont use the graphic verson on a older pc i find you dont even notice it.

i know this is a bit of the subject but have we (edugeek got a folding at home team. If not do we want one i have been doing it for a while but have not really been in a team. will post in here

is any one intrested in starting a folding@home team if you are vote and i will check with the edugeek staff and see if we can get a edugeek one up and running if there is not one already. what do you think i will put it to the vote.folding@home i am happy to run with it if people want.

lol well i am out of the picture as i use fireworks for all my picture art stuff never used nothing else as i got it with studio8 cheap as well £99 on acadmic licenceas i work in a school (at the time i was on a education course)

lol no i dont do that have done more soldering than i care to think it was part of my job and i love it but yes time is a issue. got a good iron with fan and temp control ect cost about £300 was a preasent from a friend. also is esd protected.

ok i have said about this plugin to a few people and everyone i know that uses rss feeds that i have told about it (and uses firefox) have used it. it is easy to use i use it for the fourm and i find it really good. have been useing it for about 2 years now and i would not do without is give it a go you have nothing to lose WIZZ RSS it also gets good write ups from firefox site

lol just found it and i have found out somthing better its just down the road from me so i can collect. (added to local supply list) its suprising what what you find out when you ask lol. also cheaper than buying ends.

the trouble is 2 meters is a bit long but i do like that price ant that would be cheaper if i could get them shorter
