  2. ok have you cheack the share permission as this will override the security permission sort of ie it wont let you in so security wont make a diffrance he will need full control and then set securaty to control what he can do. if he has read only in share he wont be able to save and it will give him the same error as above. sorry if this is basic but it is one of the things i always miss and for some reason my share permissions seem to now default to admin read
  3. well i have just finished building it today ok backup is an issue need to sort that next got cheap mb prosser sata2 raid5 card had a spare case 4 sata2 hd and i am off as it is raid not got to worry too much about hd failer as can hot swap them. all in all it has cost £150 seems to be working fine of the drives are only 240g but thats enough for now.
  4. I have but its not for me i am involved in a big project and it need a web disigner to set it up. php sql is a must. But i dont know how long it will take. If you are in contact with him pm me and i will give you my number so he can contact me and i will see what i can do.

  6. I have been getting quote from lots of supplyers and its not nice work except for one company http://www.laptopshop.co.uk they were the cheapest the friendlyest the most helpful but too good to be true. What i would like to know is has anyone else used them if so are they as good as they seem to be ???
  7. I know this is a silly question but have you updated IE my feeling is that they are there its just not displying try accessing them using older ver IE i know some of the new update block whole pages if not download firefox and see if that works ????
  8. ah ok thank for that
  9. I have had nothing but trouble from dell Try not buy if possable also they are not the cheapest and because we dont buy on the net they put the price up. I got a quote on the phone and the the same quote over the net and the net was about £50 - £100 cheaper but we can buy off the net ?????
  10. I had a n92 but the kid have it now. I get all the new nokia stuff its great. Also one of the good things is the ability to update the firmware on the phone without having to take it to the shop.
  11. sorry to jump in here how would you do that i have been going round chainging all local password by hand every time and it is driving me mad i do it about once a month but it would be easer to use a script
  12. we use lanview just for that but I know it wont be around for much longer by the looks of thing but it is free and does what i need it to and you can see usernames and machine names
  13. relibilty of the openfiler is supurb i have been testing it out over the last 4 weeks or so and hammering it to death and so far it has taken more stick than i can give it. also as it is a linux based it is free and something i tried the other day even with the dc switched off i can access the openfiler system. Origanaly i tested it on an old p2 256 meg of ram and 4 ide hard drives mounting up to 14gb of storage and it still worked fine. they have also relised a 64 bit ver but not tested it myself yet. (by the way it way ty goeff) as it was a post about 4 weeks ago i asked the same thing.
  14. it would be such a shame to just let it die
  15. ans as for coffee making you can do that with anyphone. (text one of the support staff to get the kettle on ) and they bring you a biscket as well.
  16. I am sorry if i am a bit out of order here but I have just set up a nas box and it cost me £0. I had about 6 hard drives lying around manage to get hold of a controler card ok it is ide and has sofware raid but i installed openfiler and i now have about 160gb with raid and it cost noting and was so easy to set up everyone has shares on it and it is really good. Ok its not a nas box and you do need to install the software but it is really simple. and i beleve you can go as big or as small as you like have worked out for £200 i could have 1tb with raid and hot swap sataII drives
  17. i have got the nokia n95 and what a phone it is the best thing i have bought. gps radio music and downloads feeds via wireless network or 3g easy access to the internet as well.
  18. I drive a peoguet 307sw 1.6hdi and what a car 5 or 7 seats and it does about 600miles per tank only 8 months old and i love it also goes like stink and for a deisel it drives like a petrol. and top speed ??? not had the bottle yet lol.
  19. we have the evodance and (my dads bigger than your dad type thing) but in the end they always trip them selvess up personaly i would block her access if she complains tell them that network is at risk (show letter) Then you get question but she needs access your reply well sorry too high risk if she need access will have to buy her own laptop and gprs pmcia card. I dont want my network to go down as it just just her work but everyones. and then watch her try and worm out of it.
  20. make sure both share and security permisions are correct i always forget the share permissions and leave it to read only lol
  21. Dear ... I cant come it today as there is a 6th form student picking on me . lol not quite like that but telling the school she is going to get her friends to take down the network is treatning and is a police issue and if the network did go down she is in the limelight. Like i said two students played that one to get a tech to stop spying on them. And two days later his network crashed. These things can not be taking lightly. One policy i know of is to automatalicy stop all access to anyone who says things like that. Just think some students can do more than we like to think thay can. Its not a matter to take lightly.
  22. ok if you log in fine check your cookie settings and set up to allow cookies from this site for all users IE add the site as a trusted is the easy way to do it and deply that via gpo via settings. but be careful i do know someone who messed up setting playing with this.
  23. I know of two students in a school near mine that got thrown out of school due to this its called bulling treating behaver and if you want to i know for a fact the police can get involved it could be messy but you are doing your job. If they were in work and did this it would be an instant dismissal. Also due to the fact they are in the 6th form they should know better and are more than likley over 16. This means jail lol. I know friend too lol.
  24. this is a cookie problem have you set up ie security from your ad if so you need to change the cookie settings. does it work if you log in as admin and logon to easymail if it does cheak cookie settings and export them into your gpo for the students. I found out about this the hard way.
  25. plublisher is a funny programme one of the main problems with it is that it configures itself to the printer settings ie if you have you printer set to mono and and want to print it does not like to be printed to any other printer. as most (i know we do ) of the time the default printer is b and w laser or simlar publisher attaches itself to this printer and dont like to be changed. what ver of pub are you using ?? as i thought they had sorted this out on 2003. there are sevral was to work around this.
