ok this is a strange one. the points stay active for 3 years but cannot be removed from your licence for 5 also you must declare all points to insurance for 5 years (just so they can rip you off a bit longer) and some new rules for you. if you get 6 point in the first 2 years of passing your test you get suspended and need to retake your test. also if you on a provisional you get suspended till you pass your test. the are some new rules in the pipeline as well. also in the last 10 years you dont get minibuss ect ect on the licance. This is a bit of a no brainer to be able to drive a minibus you need to take another test. My brother found this out when he got a job they asked for a clean licance and he had one but had only pass his test for 2 year and so did not have a minibus on it.

we go for the select agreement as i have found microsoft only relice new software about ever 4 years for us to keep up to date is a waist of time. so we buy the licence it its about £2 more expencive but i dont have to pay every year only when we want new ones and updated software.

we have no unplaned downtime until about 1 month ago and since then its not been a happey server but waiting for the new server to come in befor taking it down to fix the issue.

Have just bought a targus docking station. It is a life saver works like a wonder. i have a kvm for switching and have plugged in the dockin station (video included) via usb and bingo used spare port on kvm and plug the laptop in switch it on and i have it all keyboard mouse and screen and dont have to use silly pads. Makes life so easy. i did have to buy a usb to ps2 cable to plug into the kvm but it works. http://www.targus.com/uk/product_details.asp?sku=ACP50EU i did not buy the english one as it cost £50 more it does come with an adapter us but is multi voltage so just bought an adapter. saves time and i only have to plug usb in and have screen mouse keyboard and network all working no messing.

This happens to me all the time since half term. When i restart the print spooler it works for one print then stops again. have been told it might be due to a print logger i have running so will be takeing it off and trying again on monday.

We Have cal problems with the driver on some laptops and it drive the teaches mad and we have the most up to date driver. About every 1 hour they have to recalabrate with ap3 but the ones with 2.5 are ok.

Ok here i go. I used to work for acer tech support (esplex) and to be honist i cannot defend them. They employ anybody off the street ( a lot of agency staff as most people walk out due to abuse from callers) they work off a call card and have to sort many people an hour in the call center. This is why if it look like it might take too long some hang up. Now for the good bit engineers there were about 20 when i was there sometimes more as they employed more when they needed it (agency staff again) and they have a deadline as well. when i was there it was 12 laptops a day (7 hours) for someone new and up to 16 for older staff. To be honist with everyone knowing what i know i would never buy an acer. We had one machine that had been fixed 3 times ( this was due to the fact the engineers never have time to diagnose falts correctly as if you find the fault but cant fix it it does not count towards you count)

thats the fix i got it was just in case anyone else was as slow as me at installing sp2. Its working nice now. Have been told it happens to all win 2003 but not 2003 r2. (hopefully installing that as soon as i can).

I know i am a bit behind but have found out that for some reason 2003 loses help and support during sp2 install has any one else had this problem i have found a fix and will try it later today.

ok i am the plonker lol when i was logging into server was typing kinit [email protected] that did not work the i had a idear tried [email protected] it was cybernerd that gave me the idear and bingoooo it worked. now all i am thinking about is the thing with the ping thats just weard

i have pm you as i have had to put server names in it if you can think of a way of posting it without all the server name post it but due to the problem i have explaned at the end i dont know how to put it ie ping one addy get another returned. but when i ping from windows box get same ping ie nix box ping server1.domain.local ping returnes curric1.domain.domain.com 10.10.10.1 ping from windows box ping server1.domain.local ping returnes server1.domain.local 10.10.10.1 i know a little but this is just so confusing i have never have seen this before

wow that looks just what i am looking for i want a nas but have got so many old hd and pcs about have decided to make use of them and openfiler looks great. thats cool i am off to try and do it today. One of the things i am a bit confused on is once it is all set up how do i set the share up i know how to do it on active directory using windows machines but to do it via linux for a windows machine this is the bit i am not to sure on doing. or do you put a admin share on add it active directory the set the pomissions from there for users. sorry if this is the most basic question but this is the only thing i dont understand.

Ok i know thisw a old thread but have been playing with ubuntu now for a few months and it looks really good i only have one problem now i cant get samba to work( i am looking at using nix machine as file server) have got internal web sorted no problem. What i am looking for in the nix machine that we can host our Teacher and Student shared directory on. the student shared area has for sub folders year 3, 4, 5 and 6. but i dont know where to start have read and tried this page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ActiveDirectoryWinbindHowto but i dont know where to go from here( i have learnt a lot but still at basics) i do have one dc ad and exchage but want to put some of the file burden on nix machine

As some of you may have noticed i have not been here for some time. there are a few reasons for this. 1. laptop broke needed a new Radion x1400 card and they are no longer avaible to buy 2. work has been so busy i have not had enough time to breath. 3. Have had a major issue at work. and this is somthing i would like to ask if anyone here has had any experince with. It is bullying but the person doing it does not relise it and it is very hard. I have got the unions involved but I have never experinced has mad me think about quiting my job. It makes you so down but i need the job. if any one has experinced this what did they do and did it get better does it still happen or did you end up changing jobs

Then when i walk over one of the children say to me. Sir its ok we fixed it it was only muted then the teacher looks at me walks away and I walk to my office. Close the door and laugh.

The Problem i have is that most of them will display the message evertime you log in the one i have just done creates a file to compare dates and so will only disply it once a day

thats how i run all my scripts via the login and logoff via ad but how do i get somthing life that to run do i save it as a vbs

can i ask a really silly question like how do i run a autoit script on the network do i have to install autoit on every pc. sorry for being just never done scripting of any sort i can do basic bat and vbs but thats it.
