  1. what pa/mixer do you have? is it capable of doing 2ohm/channell?
  2. we've just been asked to do it - and we've been told no laptops.... GRRR, i dont mind sitting there but it's isn't part of my job - anyone got any union advice?
  3. urm, for power POE and signal WIFI of course. Jokes aside, how far is it. You can probably get away with POE network and repeaters.
  4. it's basically long devision - chunking is the same processes but in an odd and silly way (imo)
  5. hummm - sounds interesting - if it were me and i had the £500 i would probably go on it (if i were in your shoes). I'm working on my MCTS atm and going the self taught route, got the MS book and the pocket consultant for less than £50 and then the exam for £80 cos i get a discount with the book, so all in all 130 for an MCTS with a lot of reading and playing in VM's. i was looking at the A+ but it's 2 exams at £114 each (last time i checked) and it's not currently relevent for me. i may do it if the work place pay for me to but for me it's not worth it. but back to the point, the OU isn't alot different than going the self taught route, you have rescources which u can buy like i have and contacts with tutors - which IMO arn't as good as some of us here on edugeek - we're in the feild and some will alreddy have the quals you're going for. you could always try the self taught route first then if it fails go to the OU. you could always ask your school if they would like to help with the costs.
  6. +1 for the netgear - i've had one for 4-5 possible longer years. had no problems what so ever.
  7. wild shot and completely untested... what about trying to map the NAS as a link within a DFS root that is ntfs?
  8. It's not on the UK Amazon - that link is broken btw. I'm interested in buying it once I've done my MCTS in win 7 config.
  9. i'll probably be working at download festival as a sound tech/roadie if red bull are there.
  10. i've just done one (over weekend) - as others have said VCI and VPI are different 101 and 1 but make sure your router is set to LLC based multiplexing also - or it just wont work. i actually used your link How to use your own router with O2 Broadband - O2User - Unofficial help and support forum for O2 and it helped me greatly with a netgear router. the other thing i did was a bit naughty but it soon made it work... i changed the 'outside facing' mac address to that of the old o2 device. it make the auth just work. without doing that i had an ADSL connection but nothing more. not all routers can do this... and i'm pretty sure it's against some regs.
  11. wooo same here - except we were backing up the heads 70GB itunes collection....
  12. Moving from cc3 to vanilla is easier then starting over.... AD is there alreddy, just needs tidying up, you can just hack away at the rm components untill your pure vanilla. the GINA would be my first thing to get rid of.
  13. urm.... i dont have any AV at all - and i dont have any issues... haven't used one since 2006 now.
  14. i think it's worse than that google.co.uk just isn't refreshing to it'self - had about 30 different versions of the home page...

  16. i keep getting garbage.... i got... on the top of this page /* * www.vam.ac.uk typography. * Christian Johansen ([email protected]) 18/10-05 */ h1, .homepage h2, h3 { font-weight: bold; } and... when trying to edit my post for the first time document.write(''); document.write(''); document.write(''); also arthur the boss got the two things attached....
  17. i have an old hp manual with what i deam to be a good guide to it, i'll scan it in when i get home and post it up.
  18. 98se was quite stable eventually.
  19. quick question; if i go on to to the MCITP enterprise admin, can i use the pass of the 70-680 for that and at the same time for MCITP enterprise desktop support tech?
  20. I've just brought some books and will soon be taking the exam. Who else has passed it and was it worth it?
  21. how do i download it - tired in VLC but it failed.
  22. Also if using external devices with ASIO drives, Cubase will some times revert to other ASIO drivers if the device has been removed and replaced, a quick work around was to actually remove all other ASIO drivers than the ones for the sound card. Worked very well. We now have a Sibelius suite and use the ASIO4All driver to combat the latency issues (our music teacher says it's ok but deep down i know it isn't.) TBH tha ASIO Multimedia Driver is crap and has massive latency issues when recording audio. ASIO4All is better but not the best. You say you have 'decent external soundcards' try completely disabling all other sound cards, and make sure you have updated the firmware recently and are using the correct ASIO drivers (a computer i regularly work on has 10+ ASIO drivers installed as i take different interfaces depending on what i'm recording - the on-board soundblaster has 4 on it's own). Another thing to watch out for when using USB keyboards is that you ither have the manufacturer specific drivers for them or use the windows one. our keyboards have a switch on the side to select what they appear to the host as (i found the windows ones to be better than the edirol ones!!!). Also (this is configuration specific) they IS a difference between using MIDI outputs, Virtual MIDI outputs (such as windows SW synth) and VST instruments. MIDI outputs that go to an external sound module as MIDI data require the MIDI drivers and buffers to be correct, Virtual MIDI outputs require a good sound card with good drivers (even then they're limited) and VST instruments require good ASIO config. If using USB midi devices then the 'use system timestamp' is important, however if using MIDI in and outs of a decent sound card (eg a motu 828mk3) you will be better off using the soundcards timestamp or wordclock or SMTPE for sync, Usually. I'm a cubase sx3, LE and studio4 user and i understand different versions work in different ways. I also used to use sx3 on an AMD speadstep machine and had no issues as the CPU clock speed changed.
  23. I quite liked the idea of the first one but didn't move away from a server 2000 domain. Maybe I'll give this a go inside a virtual box and see what happens.
  24. Well your computer has to be near a power socket so run network to your sockets... simple. TV's will soon be networked (some are already) so will need a net, phones can run over the cat5/6 cable... you alarm can be networked (thinking 02 jougler) so just run a aerial and car5/6 to every power socket and you can't go wrong. you wont need them in all sockets in the kitchen perhaps.
  25. I would say lets have a hive cam but i think IR would affect them. Not sure how bee's communicate but i guess it would be something to look into. also - did you have to get planning permission to get bee's?
