I assume you have something in place that creates the users from SIMS and automatically makes the changes in your AD to move them to new year groups? You need Google Cloud Directory Sync on a server, and G Suite Password Sync on every DC. Completely cloud for me, whichever route you decided to take on that. Dedicated connectivity for each site. Multiple connections for fallback should net fail. IP phones hosted in the cloud (again whichever route) Nothing on premise unless there was absolutely no other way to do so.

Yes. If they're already on 365 and you have students that are already on the platform, you can't get funding to migrate. This is to setup a cloud service that you haven't already got for student use. If you have 365 for staff only, that might be a different matter. Be best to engage a Partner on that though!

Hi all, I've got a HP 290 G1 Small Form Factor PC with a Core i5 8500 in it, 8GB RAM. Pretty nippy machine, but the graphic card is an oboard Intel 100 Graphics. I'd like to upgrade it to have a bit more poke. I'm not in need of the latest and greatest in processing power, but being able to run relatively modern 3D games at a lower resolution wouldn't hurt. My monitor is 1080p, so I'm not looking to push to 4K or anything like that. It's been a while since I've looked at any graphics cards and devices like that, so I'm completely out of the loop as to what is supposed to be good, or not right now. Anyone got any suggestions? Low to mid-budget would be my preference really. Maybe something like a GTX 1050 or RX 550 would do me? Again, completely out the loop on what is considered usable or not these days, so any advice would be great.

I remember the days when BECTA told Promethean and Smartboard that they had to create an open interoperable standard so that their presentations could be transferred between their software and any other competitors software simply. Promethean and Smartboard just decided to sit on that, and BECTA were gone before they were. Classflow is the free web based solution, but you've also got Smart who have their own whiteboard, and Jamboard for those who are using G Suite.

Edu24 seems like a new startup (domain is less than a year old) but there are few things I'm uncomfortable with personally. 1. No office adress on their website 2. Telephone number to contact their Education specialist is non-geographic on their contact us page (0333) and on their quote request page it's an 0203 number. 3. No company trading name or company number on their website 4. Can't find them on Companies House anywhere, and I've checked virtually every Tom Newman on it. 5. No Tweeting ever. No Twitter followers, and only follow 3 people on Twitter, the Dfe, the EEF, and the Chronicle of Higher Education 6. No policies on their website. At all. Data Processing. Ts&Cs. Nothing. 7. Whois on their website hides any information about them All things that leave me really uncomfortable! I'm all for new startups trying to enter and disrupt the marketplace, but they're not very transparent.

I'm guessing that isn't the PDF you actually want to send, as its way, way smaller than 4MB? How big is the PDF you want to send if its 4MB? That's a pretty huge letter.

Migh that count as PII now, as it is a piece of information that can be used to help identify that specific individual? So a random Jbloggs1, Jbloggs2, Jbloggs3 wouldn't do so, as it wouldn't single them out as such, but 19JBloggs would identify that as a specific JBloggs in your 2019 cohort. I'd avoid it, personally.

Hello to @Bromcom_Support I've sent you a DM about setting up G Suite Integration with yourselves. The DM explains in a little more detail what we are looking at, and I'm to understand that it will be in place in the late July release. However, I could do with some feedback in regards to access rights needed to be able to set this up, as our MIS manager is only term-time, and the school would like this setup over August. What I'd really like to avoid is the MIS Manager leaving over the summer without making sure I've got the correct access rights I'll need to be able to get this setup! Thanks again, Paul.

Apparently the Wacom Intuos works to some degree, but it won't support pressure sensitivity. Don't quote me on that though!

Short answer, is no. Long answer is that there are some free solutions out there, but they've either got complications (Freemium and owned by Mainland Chinese business like Edmodo) or they're not a true LMS (Google Classroom and Microsoft Teams) So, it all depends on what you want your LMS to do and to be.

Check that they're in the classroom_teachers group. If you have it set that pending classroom teachers can create classes, that can be an issue.

Yes, that's kinda the point of it. Staff signed in with a G Suite account and approved as a classroom teacher can access YouTube unfettered, and unblock videos on your student G Suite accounts as appropriate though.

The Duet is a great little device. I'm enjoying using it, especially with the USI stylus. It's far more practical, light and size appropriate, I find, than my Pixelbook for pen based inputs. I think the 10e, the ruggedised version could really be excellent in schools. Especially if you can get the USI styluses to go with it, though I'd personally look towards EMR for schools as you don't have to charge the styluses then. Like I previously said, its designed as a portable tablet device that can also be used as a laptop when needed. I don't plan on docking it to a screen anytime soon, the resolution and refresh rate of the USB-C to HDMI output has little to no practical relevance to me.
