I've got KASA and Philips Hue and they all work great. I hear good things about the Ikea kit too.

The feature set is really getting much, much better with Meet now. I'd love to be able to set some kind of low res recording to Vault for safeguarding option, but most things are there, or will be there really soon. The temporary recording should be good enough for most distance learning needs should a closure occur again in your school. We won't be losing the permanent record till that feature is ready as well, which is useful.

Then Adobe should be paying schools, not the other way around. Skills not tools.

That's the MMC croaked I believe. I think its soldered onto the motherboard with the Asus C300, so I don't think its user serviceable.

I'm sure Cambium has a cloud based controller system too, and I think it's priced in with the APs. So as long as you have the APs, you get the cloud controllers. You can assign APs to act as controllers if you lose connectivity to the Cambium cloud too. Not as slick as Meraki, but none of this licensing craziness either. Don't quote me on that though!

How on earth have they lost that many? At that point, if my projectors have buttons, I'd be giving them long bits of bamboo and calling that a remote they can use to press the on button with!

HOW MUCH!? That's obscene. I hope your second word was "off!" It won't be cheaper to replace it for a single year, but as soon as you're looking at 2 or 3 years, you'll save instantly.

This is why you should consider alternatives, always. Schools are there to teach them concepts and not applications. If Adobe don't want to play ball with costs, then there are other platforms that are available to teach these concepts. For example, Photopea, GIMP or Pixlr E instead of Photoshop. WeVideo, DaVinci Resolve and Kdenlive instead of Premiere Pro. Gravit Designer, CorelDRAW or Inkscape instead of Illustrator.

Ahh I can see how scheduling a pop-up might be a more cost effective solution then!

How long have you had it? Would the cost of replacing it all be more than the renewal? You can get some amazing pricing on stuff from companies like Cambium and Ubiquiti.

I'm totally with you on the given shorthand being nonsense, but that's part of the propaganda as they try to get people back into the office I guess. People shouldn't be going to your office at all. Have you got signs telling people not to? I'd get them up sharpish! Everytime a student turned up there I'd have an email sent out reminding staff too. You got plenty of ventilation? You should have your windows open, masks/face shields available and plenty of hand gel. I don't think there is a hard and firm rule other than "We don't have enough staff to cover this, so we have to" Pupils wise. It's bubble based.... So if you're in class bubbles, you isolate each bubble as incidents occur. The school nearest to me is a primary with single form entry, but they mixed their bubbles as two year groups together, so they've just isolated 60 children and all the connected staff.

I see why they're doing this though. They're targeting based on resolution. 2K for Series S 4K for Series X The S is more powerful on a number of other levels than the One X. In particular the CPU, and the capabilities of the GPU visually, even if it won't pump to 4K. The Series X is clearly meant to be the upgrade path for One X owners or those with 4K TVs, and the S for One S owners, 1080p TVs or 1440p monitors.

I live in Sandwell, but work in Oxfordshire, and my work is quite keen for me to keep working from home in the meantime. I don't blame them. But my office isn't Covid secure anyway, and as such I'm being asked not to work from it anyway, regardless of lockdowns.

I much prefer the new UI, personally. Much cleaner.
