  1. We have. Using their system I believe. Manager handles that for us.
  2. This is why you should be engaging your legal teams to check the terms and conditions of the contracts before you sign them. At a minimum, to check the clauses you're not happy/are unsure of. We can all speculate, but they are the experts and are retained by LAs, Schools and Trusts for a reason. Especially this curveball move of a contract.
  3. But you're missing the key point Before the end of the Initial Term and/or any Renewal Term. If you're in a three year deal, the end of the Initial Term (starting a new deal) or any Renewal Term (what is happening right now) is at the end of that three years, not mid-contract.

  5. Provided that they server valid notice of this change. Meaning as long as they let you know, they can increase it and you've agreed to it within your three year deal. Basically, if they decide that actually in Year 2, it won't be 2.5% + CPIH, it'll be 8% + CPIH and they let you know before December 2nd 2022 ready for April 1st 2023, then you're stuck. The only get out would be if they failed to notify you before your 120 days to the anniversary of renewal.
  6. As I read it, the only get out in 15.6 is if they Increase above 2.5% and CPIH from the November before the anniversary of your renewal (as everyone is on April renewal) and don't give you at least 120 days notice which by the way, is the amount they've given for the 3 year change [*]Increase of 2.5% and CPIH from the November before renewal (December 24 for April 25) and don't give you at least 90 days notice. 16.2 says you've got to give notice that you won't be renewing with more than 90 days left to go, else you're being renewed automatically. Which is what we've got now with the new three year term. So that get out will only apply By late December 2024 for April 2025. So if you sign this deal, you've got it for three years unless they decide to charge more than 2.5% plus the CPIH in November 2024 (October 2021 was 3.8%, so the increase would, if it was based on October this year would be 6.6%)
  7. ... ?! Sorry, but I don't get the logic here. This reads like you're saying "We're staying with SIMS for three more years because we're not letting ESS push us into having to do a procurement process, so we're going to sign a contract with them for £40k?"
  8. Vimeo does have filters in place now, so as long as you provide them your externally facing IP addresses, they can provide you a filtered version of their site. It's not perfect, and we still generally block it - but it is much better than allowing Vimeo without restriction!
  9. So this seems to be fixed, but now once again every time you use Google Calendar it once again thinks you're a robot. Going around in circles. Is it unreasonable to hope both things could be fixed?
  10. I'm now completely stuck for doing my job. I'm having to tether on my very slow connection to do anything. May as well go home at this point.
  11. Happening again @SchoolsBroadband When will you ever accept that your move to Netsweeper was a massive mistake? EDIT : My manager has been on hold for 15 minutes, with "Your call is very important to use, please wait for the next available agent" interrupting the hold music every 10 seconds. 90 times I've heard that now.
  12. I've got no doubt its connected to the continued CAPTCHA checks we've been getting for the last week for having the audacity to want to check our calendars.
  13. I'm not entirely sure but I think GAT can do it. It's not cheap though!
  14. Im now tethering to be able to get my job done. This is really poor. Getting onto 3 hours now of trying to work but getting these errors.
  15. Anyone else seeing this today? Once again the Netsweeper move is a massive success... ... and I'm not a sarcastic person, clearly.
  16. Seems to be a lot quicker now than it was first thing this morning.
  17. Yes, that's exactly what it should be doing; basically. Boot up Do I have X% amount of storage space free? If yes, go to 7, if no go to 4. Find profile with oldest last login time. Delete profile. Go to 1. Wait for login. When login process is triggered; Does this profile already appear on this Chromebook? If yes, sync profile to make it up to date. If no, download all data needed. Clunky pseudocode, but you assume this is the basic process.
  18. OK, we get it King Canute, you like your servers on-site.
  19. Their plan is to do it SIMS 6 - SIMS 7 style Change it module by module so it doesn't feel like a sudden switch, but progresses slowly over the next 3 years or so. Which inevitably means there will still be bits of the dBASE/Pascal coded SIMS still there in 5 years time. If it changes in the next 5 years at all!
  20. Not entirely sure I agree with it being just sales spin, though yes there is an element of that. We all know that monopolies are not healthy for markets and that SIMS has not progressed in any meaningful way in 15 years and competition does help with that. I think it's pretty clear that SIMS has also reinforced Microsoft's position of strength in schools too, meaning its been very hard to develop and move schools forward for the best part of the last 15 years outside of the SIMS/Microsoft team up monopoly. It's also an argument about locking people into products because of the lack of development and change. ESS are well aware that stepping away from BETT 2019 and 2020 didn't look good, and now BETT 2022 is around the corner and they still don't have the product they first showed in 2018, because they've cancelled it isn't good. Putting a three year imposition on schools isn't just about the length of contract, it is about why they've decided to do this too.
  21. If that's something generic you've been sent - any chance you could share it with us all?
  22. As terrible as this sounds, I needed to go shopping Tuesday, and ended up going to my local Waitrose instead of the local Tesco simply because I thought everyone would wear a mask in Waitrose...Might cost a few quid more but I thought it was worth trying it for mask sanity. ... and as terrible as that sounds, I was right. Every last person in there had a mask on.
  23. Dusting of snow here overnight. School car park doubling as a skating rink. Do wonder if anyone will raise the lack of salting with our site team or not. Several people have nearly gone flying!
  24. It all depends on what is being asked. If a parent is having trouble logging into our Parents Evening System we will support that by email on a dedicated email address, using the parent's email address that's on the system to communicate with them (ie we don't respond if its from an email address we don't recognise) We sometimes have parents ask to reset student email accounts, but we generally defer to the child on that, as its their account not their parent's. We don't do telephone support and we don't do support for personal devices. They do try though. We've had a few incidents where parents are "having laptops repaired" so ask to borrow them from us "in case of lockdown and they don't have a device if it happens" which is always fun.
  25. WeTransfer is a very popular tool for stuff like this. You'd need Pro though for the file size.
