The vast majority of the functionality in Edulink is in the MyChildAtSchool functionality in Bromcom. They have virtual parents evening coming too, but there is School Cloud, which is probably a cheaper combo as Schoolcloud/MCAS/Bromcom than Edulink/SIMS.

I wouldn't use bluetooth. Bluetooth Audio is notorious for delays unless you're using 5.0 or above across the board. Fine if it's audio only, but if you have video too it causes issues.

When I enquired, your ActivInspire license came with the board and was for use with the board and the board only. You could license it for use without an ActivInspire board but they charged £500 a device. That was several years ago now. Also, they have Classflow as a web based alternative.

Yeah, we've had this with our exams officers too, and I absolutely disagree. I've reached out to JCQ who say it is for exams centres to decide and they will not make recommendations. Their exam is digitally transformed into a PDF and stored in Google Drive, which is an digital equivalent of printing. You can simply get the student to go to a print station and be supervised by the member of staff taking part in the printing process. Or you can get an invigilator to do it, which shouldn't be an issue. I know ChromEx are working on a function so that it only produces a PDF at the end (instead of a Drive document and a PDF) to mitigate issues and concerns. . If you need them to print directly from the device, they will have to be connected to a network in some way unless you're expecting them to plug a USB cable in to print each time. ChromEx is completely sandboxed and you cannot get out of the sandbox as a student as long as you configure the devices correctly. Of course they're connected to the internet, but they're not connected openly - they're limited to the task in hand and nothing else. JCQ won't say that it is okay or not okay to use. I'm not going to share the email exactly as my correspondence with JCQ wasn't meant for anyone outside of our purpose, but they are happy for invigilators to collect typed pages and passing them to candidates so they can check it is all present and it's their own work as collecting pages and handing them to the candidate involved a lot less than reading back answers on request or scribes dictating them down on their behalf.

In that case, whatever OU they're in you should be able to limit the domain of the machines to your school ones, so people aren't using it outside of your school accounts (with another school or using their personal Gmail accounts for example)

It doesn't matter what happens with teachers, they're going to back fill with support staff, because they're the same thing as far as Mr Zahawi is concerned. Dinner ladies taking physics, IT staff taking PE, receptionists doing PSHE. Gonna be a laugh innit.

The absolute last thing I was going to do over Christmas was hit a cinema, with the infection rate where it is. So no. I will be waiting till it's available at home, which will probably be early February.

I think people do forget the work that went into making sure Y2K wasn't the problem it could have easily been. Some of the earliest paid work I had was to go from office to office and testing the machines in each with a floppy disk that checked whether the BIOS on the desktop machines were going to be a problem. I think we caught 1 that would be, but that was something that was running Windows 3.11 for Workgroups still!

I'd summise the same. I think SIMS will be down to 60-65% market share pretty soon, but that'll hold steady with the three year agreement (though obviously there are LA/Support Company agreements which may shift that in the years to come.) What is going to be fascinating however, is what actually develops over the next three years and what the product will look like in December 22, 23 and 24. You're not comparing like to like. The Iiyama is a much higher commerical grade panel designed to be brighter, have a glass front to mitigate damage, have a higher quality build for it's chassis with components that should last longer and be powered up for 12 hours a day. A Samsung panel is built with an expectation of being used for 4 hours a day. Yes, there are cases where a standard domestic TV would work, but not if its used all day, every day... or crucially in schools - turned on at 8:30am and not turned off till the cleaner gets to it 9 hours later. It's like saying well, I could have this Tesla Series 3 but a milk float is an electric car too.
