Some of our Infants/Primary schools have opted to subscribe to Securus Monitoring and Filtering https://www.securus-software.com/ Anyone used this before? I followed the documentation (https://securus-software.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SSKB/pages/197052/Securus+NET+Installation+Guide) and its talking about installing a linux based VM on our host server whcih i have done, but i am not entirely sure what the point or the purpose of this VM is for? As one of the IT teachers at the school decided just to install the Securus MSI client on a few laptops prior to the VM being installed and it all worked as expected the reporting and everything else School is using an Active Directory Server and users just login against AD Anyone know what the point or purpose of this Linux VM is please?

Hi Been asked if we can set a 1 minute delay on emails being sent out (Incase they need to cancel the sending), i know its possible using outlook local client by setting up rules , but school are asking if it can be can it be done on a global level from 365 tenancy does anyone know? I could not see any obvious options where to set it or if this even possible Thanks

Just got Jamf installed for one of our primary schools all new for us this The iPads have already been setup an auto enrolled as a "Non Shared ipad" Question: School want to make use of Classrooms, the classes are created from within Jamf and the idea of it is that during the class any pupils will just pick up an iPad and the Teacher will be able to manage the class from their master iPad, there are no individual pupil logins or anything just everything as it is Is it possible to to use it this way with the iPads in this state? Classes are set similar to this: I would have though that under Shared ipad section we can add the iPads in there? but as the iPads are not shared will Classroom still work???

Hi all Had a query from a parent requeting an SAR request that containts reference to their child in any email correspondance sent within the schools email system they using google workspace email for this Anyone know if its possible to retrieve this information from Google admin console? Hey, in the end we ended up using Sharepoint Migration Tool (install agents on the server setup jobs then let it run over ) and copy data from Local Home folder > One Drive and likewise with Roaming Profile Folders For the Local Machine we just had to end up blowing the entire profile on the local device (We just ended up getting the users to backup their Browser Password/Favourites, then delete the local profile from their machine then get them to login again creating a new local profile then it would Sync with Onedrive Long winded way but just ended up doing it this way start off with a brand new local profile! Tried other way but ended up reall messy as there was paths in registry still pointing to old server etc. thought may aswell just start from scratch !

We having the exact same problem! With us though schools are sending it to Gmail accounts mainly parents and we getting the same issue! Only came to light with us last week!

Hi Anyone running Microsoft 365 A5 Licenses for a very small primary school? We got one school on A1 at the moment, redoing their entire network infrastructure spoke to a few MS licesning providers some saying go for A3 and had one saying for for A5 Instead Its a very small school around 14 total staff including Teachers/TAs/Head/Few admin staff, and there are a few govenors that uses email access only and around 70 pupils only (non 365 users they just use local accounts to login/surft the net and print thats all) I'm liking A5 because of the extra security features that comes with it Anti Phishing and all sorts and Cyber security is somethign we are really pushing, but not sure if A5 is a bit OTT (it does come at a cost though) or stick with A3 We looking to implement intune and all that aswell thus why we are moving away from A1

Had a call with a company today giving us a demo and overview of Barracuda Email protection https://www.barracuda.com/products/email-protection/features#tabNav Our schools uses Office365 so they said this works on top of 365 Just wondering though does Microsoft offer an alternative to what Barracuda does? We thinking of moving some of our schools to A3 licensing from A1

Yeh actually i found the setting in the end in Group Policy > Windows Settings > under password policy "Minimum Password Age" setting wasnt setup correctly so changed it all working now

Hi all Got this really really weird issue Have a school with a 365 hybrid setup onoprem AD sync back to Office 365 One of the user for some reason their User Logon name is one thing, but the userlogin name pre2000 is different it works though and single sign on and everything else works fine no idea why its been setup like this something been inherited. However when user logs in and when they go to change their password get this error message, we have tried a password lengths of up to 24 characters mixture random numbers etc still get this error message!There are no password policies on the server or anything..any ideas?? Changing the password from AD works fine as domain admin but the user cant for some reason on their machine

Not Fully cloud hybrid at the moment, but for A3 ideally looking to use intune and also Defender (trying to cut costs from using other 3rd party applications) so the schools can just deal with less transactions

Hi! We are slowly moving some of our schools over to hybrid 365 setup, for the teachers and admin staff working fine, however some schools are a bit reluctant to move the pupil accounts over Some of the existing setup we have at our small schools we support is Pupil either have Shared logins like Class1,2,3 etc. etc where they all login and have a shared area mapped and save all their work there or they have individual logins and have their own home area where they can save the files However for the teachers though they want access to the pupil home area so they can easily pull out their work, does anyone know if this is easily doable or way around if if we decide to move all pupils to a hybrid/365 environment? Ideally if we did the hybrid setup each pupil wll have their own onedrive folder, but not sure how teachers would be able to access each of these pupils onedrive folder if they need to access their work? Was thinking teams but may just be a bit complicated or long winded for the pupuls and teachers to access and to manage and maintain, so thinking of something quick and easy

Hey all We recenctly have started moving some of our infants/primary school to Onedrive getting rid compeltely of Home Folders and Roaming profiles which seems to be working well at the moment, most of these migration have just been a brand new server/brand new domain/brand new laptops so starting from scratch has been easier However though there are some schools we looking to move who either just have a legacy setup still there i.e. home folders/profiles but want to move to One Drive. The issue or way we are doing this at the moment is removing the profile/home folder paths from their AD account, move them to an Azure AD user group which we have created (Which also has the onedrive GPOS linked to it) we are having to make a local backup of their profile on their laptop/PC, delete the profile then get them to relogin again which creates a brand new profile on their laptop and this is when the onedrive kicks in and starts to sync desktop items and the folders correctly, everything is setup via group policy correctly all the onedrive policies and when they login first time on the device it works fine, this works but its a bit long winded is there an easier way to transfer data across to onedrive without having to blow away their existing local profile on the PC???

Hi allQuick question wonder if you can help Just taken on IT support for 3 new Primary Schools, the entire school is federated however each school has its own server and own domain for now The previous provider registered a single 365 account for all schools so in this 365 tenancy we have school1.comschool2.comschool3.comAt the moment each schools has their own server and own domain and everything hosted on Prem We are planning to move all 3 schools to an Hybrid Setup, with Active Directory hosted on the school and it linking back to 365 (Sharepoint Onedrive etc) The Plan is for now that each school will have their own server and own domain contoller and each server will have the AdSync tool installed on the server connecting back to 365 Can anyone see any issues with this different domain controllers connecting back to a tenancy which hosts multiple domains? or does each school need to have its own seperate tenancy We were thinking of merging all schools into a single domain but due to internet speeds and a host of other things for now we are going to carry on keeping it seperate

Hi all One of the boards all of a sudden started displaying this black line across our schools Geneeboard not a black pen marker or anything, any idea what this could be perhaps looks like some sort of seal or something has come loose within the board itself? Functionality of the board all works fine no issue just this line appearing

Done this a few time what we have usually done is the following Create a new server or you can even run it on a windows 10 machine (Quite a few schools we support have p2p setup or if its just one admin user and they just run SIMS off a Windows 10 machine) Make a backup of the SQL Databases you still got access to dbattach on your existing sims server? if so do a backup from there Install SQL Express 2014/2016 or whatever version your SIMS database was running on (Free version should work fine if its very little users) Restore the Database to the new server using DBattach Copy the entire directory of SIMS folder from old server to new server (Should include docstorage, Setups folder and everything else) Under SIMS > Setups run the "SIMSINST" and "SIMSApplicationSetup" Then install SIMS normally, after that you would probably need to login to SIMS app and change the paths for things like Docstorage etc... done this multiple times it works for schools that have decided to keep an "Archive/Read Only Version of SIMS"

We had a list sent over by DFE, some schools that are not on the list have started to query if they can be added on the list, we recommended them to the DFE and DFE replied that they are "Commercially Delivered Rollout" Any ideas what this means?

Hi All Anyone else get an email from DFE aiming to get Gigabit Broadband for Schools implemented? We got an email from them saying around 40 or so schools in our county are eligible! Going to setup a call with them soon to discuss this but looking good especially as we also had a handful of schools qualifying for the connect the classroom project

Yup they did! Over the summer they made some Config changes on the router and site to site vpn (without notifying us) which broke the VPN connection! so had to get them sorted in the end frustrating as we were out onsite for 2 days solid trying to figure out if it was an internal issue and all along it was RM!

Hi!Just after some adviseHas anyone ever worked on Training room setup and scenario before?We offer SIMS Training to candidates across school they usually come to our offices onsite and is led by an instructorAt the moment the way its setup is that Candidates login to a windows 10 machine and they launch oracle VM and launch an instance of a Virtual machine and conduct the training every day, then once the class is finish for the day the VM is then refreshed using some Batch files which pulls down an 70gig virtual image every night to the computers, so the next day when candidates are around they login and launch a new instance of the VM that was downloaded the previous night not really idea but it works, so we looking to get away from this completelyWe have brand new server really powerful so we are possibly looking at creating a bunch of HyperV machines on this server and allow users to RDP back to these VMs from the workstations in the training room to conduct their training, so then the next bit we need to figure out how to refresh the Hyper V images either everynight automatically or manuallyAnyone ever done something similar before or have a better suggestion?Citrix/VDI route going to be quite of an overkill to us, was wondering if we can work off something we have at the moment

Could be firewall issue seen this before Here is a script we tend to run on all workstations that needs SIMS deploying (Save it as a .bat file) or another thing is under the username / password box in within solus before you deploy the agent ensure you add fulldomain.name/admin username

Hi Guys Staff are back in one of the primary schools we support something has changed over the holidays which meant there was issues logging on So here is the setup Junior Infants (both within 100 meters of each other) At the moment there is a site 2 site VPN between both sites with each site has its own router supplied by RM and everything has been working perfectly fine over the past year or so! Junior site: HOST SERVER DOMAIN CONTROLLER 10.3 range (DHCP/DNS/) FILE SERVER INFANTS SITE: DHCP SERVER only on a 10.139 range with DHCP pointing to the DC on junior site all boxes running 2019 So the problem is today we came in and all of a sudden drives were not mapping and we were not able to domain join any machines, internet works perfectly fine, we take the laptop to the junior site and try rejoinin the domain everything works fine no issues whatsoever! From Infant Side i tried to ping the following (From the DHCP Server) Host - Works! DC - Works! File Server - dont work Then i logged on to one of the admin machines ran another ping and got the following Host - Works! DC - Works! File Server - work They are all on the same switch! DNS/DHCP and everything is okay nothing has changed over the holidays or so at a loss at what could be the issue here, i've asked RM to check the site to site vpn incase any changes has been made so waiting to hear back from them really really weird
