It's best when they are on the verge of achieving a high score and you move their ship into the path of an oncoming missile. Back in the dumb terminal days, you could join someone elses screen to yours and drop random characters into their work. They would be typing say "PRINT A3$" but it would appear as "PRIZNT A3$". I've had hardened professionals walk away from their VDU muttering "I can't type at all today". My own personal favourite was when my boss was working away on his PC and for reasons that I can't remember now he didn't have the lid on his box. I was talking to him about one of the clients and he suddently started swearing "bloody windows 95 has crashed again!", as I handed him the 486DX from inside his box. :-)

While he was working on it? Are you mad? I mean. You removed the CPU from someone's computer... while they were working on it... while you were talking to them? That's crazy.
Pottsey Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 There are a few nice programs around if you know where to look. One make the mouse drunk the faster it goes the more it wobbles. My other favourite is the CD drive randomly ejects and you hear a burp sound from the computer then the CD drive shuts .

I have heard that some people will do things like swap the memory in a colleague's machine so he is trying to run Windows XP on 32MB, or perhaps they might remap the keys in windows so that the ctrl key becomes the windows key, shift becomes escape, enter becomes backspace, carriage return becomes delete and tab becomes print screen. Perhaps people might do things like edit the LMHosts file on an NT box so that it all points at the wrong things ... just for that box. A nasty person even take a lovely new mouse with a shiny chrome strip on it down the middle, put a hand buzzer inside it so that every time they move the mouse to the right it is set off. A really nasty person might drop hints that they have left an etherkiller plugged in so that it gets people paranoid ... especially when you open you bag to put your laptop away at the end of a day and there are half a dozen in there ... A nastier person might actually plug them in but make them safe so nothing would happen anyway ... A PFY would put a few lives one out there, hooked into a timer switch. A BoFH would put real ones out there, superglue them into the timer, superglue the timer into the socket and them rewire teh socket so the switch appears to be on but is actually off ... and when someone turns the socket off to stop the timer ... they are actually turning it on. Now only a nasty person would do that ... or even think of it ... I am glad I am not that sort of person :-D
BKGarry Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I have changed both the PDC SDC and NMs workstation to use the DVORAK keyboard layout, he was fuming, especially since i disabled the windows USB ports on his machine so the mouse wouldn't work.

Either wait until somebody leaves the office and then "blank" their screen, watching them shout bloody murder at it when they come back and it won't wake up. Or, control their screen as they go to login and insert an extra character into their password. Truly drives them crazy. Matt

I opened a machine up a few months back because the fan wasn't working and what must have been at least 2-3 inches of sherbert poured out of the side all over my lap. I still to this day don't know how they got it in there, it must have taken them ages

She phoned up complaining. Told her that she would have to turn the monitor up-side-down to correct it. You guessed it - she did.

Even had a teacher phoning old trafford asking why he was getting the leeds scum site when he tried to get to see his beloved reds
