https://www.virtualbox.org hands down! I use it daily on my MacBook Pro at work. I'm currently running Windows 8, Windows 7 & XP VM's as I need to support it all.

 

For one its free and it's actually great software. If you look at the over all reviews between the three it seems to really level out between them all but usually VirtualBox comes out on top for a number of things. All I can say is save some money, give VirtualBox a try and if you don't like it and does not meet your needs then you didn't waste any money.

Vmware fusion for me!

Vmware fusion, I tried both and in the end it came down to price £39.99 for fusion or about 50 for Parallels, for me I just wanted a basic VM software. I did look at VirtualBox which is also very good.

Out of the two you mentioned and I much prefer Fusion, it seems much quicker and provides a few extra options.

Another vote for virtualbox here. Use it daily and works fine. As Carter said above - try it, and if you don't like it you haven't wasted any money, and if you do like it you've saved money.

Fusion is the better IMHO of the two, we are just moving away from Fusion though to a dedicated virtual terminal server for macs and ipads

Those of you with Parallels or VMware, have you give VB a try? I would have work pay for one of them if I seen a reason to change from VB but no issues. Smooth, works with everything and free

I'm 100% behind VirtualBox!

Used both VMWare and Parallels in the past, and to be honest, VirtualBox is just as good for a single workstation, and it's free!

When I went to use a Virtual Product I did a lot of Googling and found that each of the three products all had strengths and weaknesses over the other but a lot of reviewer tend to go with Virtualbox because where it mattered it worked great and again free.

 

I'm considering to make three identical installs of Windows 7 & 8 on three separate machines to show speed differences between the three.
