Hi All, I received an email this morning stating We're emailing to remind you that we will be discontinuing renewals for a range of tsoHost's TLDs from Tuesday 30th April 2024 and that this will impact one or more domain names in your tsoHost account, which include: List of school domains I've confirmed this with their live chat and the reason given was due to the high cost. Will be looking at a MAT Nominet account or moving to Cloudflare (which already hosts our DNS) Just making others aware Cheers

We support a variety of different hardware and software systems ranging from (but not limited to) VmWare, Cisco Meraki, Ubiquiti, Freshdesk, Konica Copiers, Papercut, Office 365, Dell Laptops and Desktops, Jamf, Arbor, Pupil Asset, iOS etc Full training and support will be provided by our MAT Central IT Team. Full advert will be posted early next week but please feel free to contact me for an informal chat if of any interest. Many Thanks Sai

Hi All, We have upgraded one of our sites so this is now surplus to requirements: All kit is EOL Ruckus but in perfect working order, would suit a small to mid size school. Ruckus Zonedirector 1012 with 25 AP License running last release of available code (9.3) 8 X Ruckus 7942 (B/G/N) No power supply's with the APS as we they were run via POE Please drop me a line if you have further questions

To the OP some great points raised on this thread, if you'd like to talk through anything or visit then drop me a PM We are a Primary with 430 students on roll, 34% on free school meals The majority (soon to be all) of our frontline infrastructure runs iOS alongside OSX, Win XP/7/8, our backend is fully virtualized on VMware with Win2008/2012 servers

Fusion is the better IMHO of the two, we are just moving away from Fusion though to a dedicated virtual terminal server for macs and ipads

Boredguy has provided a valid solution and is right youd need at the very least to change static ips, dns etc Would need a few more details about your specific setup but from experience there are a few ways round this; 1. Since you are virtualized you could easily assign a second nic with the second scope options configured 2. Using the single NIC and configuring the NIC of the DHCP server with addresses on *both* subnets (e.g. 255.255.255.0 and 255.255.252.0), and then enable IP routing on the machine. 3. Plugging in a second switch fed from Port 2 of the Cisco unit and then create vlans to route the traffic Of course there are pros and cons to each and everybody has their own opinion on the 'best' way to do things, but food for thought SWICT and boredguy which Swindon schools are you guys from?

Running on VMware for the last few years with no support issues at all, Capita confirmed via Email they had no issue with running it virtualized.

[sims] SIMS Connection failed for Login USERNAME reason: 0

No DNS issues at all thanks , we are a mixed environment network running primarily mac some windows and some linux so DNS has to be spot on! Only started happening after the school had paid capita to upgrade to 2008 (prior to my arrival) This solved the issue temporarily and after lengthy discussions with Capita support they decided to do a fresh installation...voila no further problems. -

Blackberry connected to domain?
saihaynes replied to mattrobson's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Hi, Could be a couple of things; 1. Someone in IT dept has given out the key to a member of staff or student 2. If the key is stored on a staff laptop it wouldnt be hard to get hold off, staff in my experience are often guilty of leaving kids in a classroom and their laptops unlocked. 3. Its WEP, We cracked our old school WEP network in about 30mins using Kismac to show SMT that the wireless was due an upgrade. Hope this helps S -
To RM or not to RM, that is the question...

I`d write you a list of constructive critism however sadly Im dedicating the time to fixing issues with their own software for them. -

Indeed, Ive got to my wits end with RM having come from a Vanilla network to CC3. However we are taking the DIY approach here and looking at combining virtualization with a move back to Vanilla come this summer............ RM have a good deal though, sell a product with issues, charge for a support contract to get flobbed off about such isssues.........genius. -

Has anybody got any documentation from their move away from RM back to Vanilla network? Im pushing to migrate from cc3 to Vanilla come next summer.
