Going back a year ago(+halfish) now for most of the year, we caught people parking up on the street (in front of houses one at a time) in the car with their laptop/notebook. I confronted one and he openly said he was trying to connect to the unprotected wi-fi's. Granted, end-user fault for not putting a password on the router but then some people don't bother because it's too much hassle/aren't made aware of the reasons for putting a password on. Anyway, the issue hasn't happened for a while but I've just sort of stuck with the name. Next door's one is "IT WORKS!", she's 'getting on' a bit; heart of gold but very very poor IT literacy, bless. It made me smirk a little at least

 

May be petty of me to give mine a custom name, but when you live in a street with every household mostly having 'virginmedia019582567519157118237561867235678919785' (slightexagg) it gets a bit boring. *shrug*

 

Damn funny article to read though, how very random for the BBC!*cough* I agree, they must be bored.

My networking lecturer used to connect to his next door neighbours wifi when her 19 year old daughter was back from Uni, put in 192.168.0.1 and the default admin password and fiddle a few settings until it broke and then 5 minutes later he would get a knock on the door and would then go over there and "fix it" over a cup of tea and a good oogle.
