2004 Ford Focus TDCI. Smoke machine, completely dead DMF, but goes like stink. Not standard mapping - it drinks fuel too!

Well .. as it's going again ..

 

Me, I'm kinda stuck with a 2000 Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5 running at about 25mpg .. YOWCH!! Living up a big hill is very lovely and all that, but the winters I kinda need the 4x4 and don't have the ££ to run 2 cars sadly .. lol .. else I'd still be driving around my 2002 Astra Bertone 2.2l Convertible .. as it is, that's sat on my drive waiting to be sold ..

Though while I did run it every day for 5 years, I then went modern and now I run a cheap and cheerful Mondeo 2.0l TDCI. I've put 20k on it since May and it's doing okay so far.

Nice 1! Occasionally i get to drive my parents left hand drive mexican import bright orange bug, set up for drag racing it's awesome. Also had to drive the bay window as a wedding vehicle for my parents when it was falling apart, had to do about 3 miles @ 20mph as it wouldn't go into third or fourth

I too have a Saab....9.5 Vector Estate....

 

Man, I love this car!!! Cruise control for long journeys, air-con for ruining your fuel consumption, and electric everything! 6 disc CD player in the boot, and a tow-bar for the Mother's caravan!

 

Ooopps! That last bit makes it sound like I live with my Mum!!! (It's not true, obviously, but since my Dad died, I tow her van around!)

I'm about to get (i've bought it but i don't have room on the drive yet) a 1994 200tdi van as a restoration project, it's complete and working but the chassis could give way at any given moment! It's still more economical than the Iveco though.

First skill you learn as a LR owner is welding.... and lots of it!

Still, they're a damn good bus if you can put in the maintenance hours.

I've got some 220tdi bits if you require them - rear wiper motor etc.

my friend had a LHD series 3, my boss has a 110 v8 that we are doing a bulkhead and outriggers on and my lodger has a 90 offroad toy... i'm pretty up on LR stuff, including the need to weld *everything*

Not so much the welding on my TD5 as the bloody leaky sunroof syndrome .. just when I think I've solved it, I go out, all confident, not wearing my waterproofs, and get a drenching on the first corner I come to .. GAH ..

I spent £160 on a kit from ebay, it's sufficient for what I do.

There are plenty of online tutorials, I looked at some MIG ones and it helped me improve my technique. It's far from perfect, but it gets me by.

Ha, the time passed...

 

I no longer own my P reg Astra...some twunt smacked it up the rear and twisted the chassis. Much missed car.

 

I now own an M reg MK3 PH1/PH2 Mybrid with a 1.4MPi engine and autobox, and an X reg MK4 1.6MPi Autobox equipped Astra. The X is a 5 door and my daily driver, a lowly 8 valver Club class, but it's plenty nippy. The M is a 3 door, with more issues than Readers Digest, and is a project.

1.6 Ford Focus 2005 with the VVTI, 115BHP engine.

 

driving in eco mode at the minute(aka old granda style) and getting 38MPG. normally get 35mpg in the summer and 32mpg in the winter.
