I've been recommending laptops of a better spec - another 200Mhz and 2Gb of RAM - for less than half the price. I thought it might have been the warranty, but it only comes with one year, so... just lots of stupid businesses, I guess. Or maybe it's the chosen government laptop for the next year, we all know what central government are like for value for money.
localzuk Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Its the business line and HP PCs have increased in price recently. The build quality of those laptops is seriously impressive too. Look at a comparable Dell Latitude, you'll be paying about the same price.

It has gigabit ethernet (most laptops seem to still come with 100Mbps) 4. LED backlit LCD 5. Spill resistant keyboard 6. Fingerprint reader 7. Docking port 8. Oaktech Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 puting 'probook' in the spec puts £150-£200 on the price as they are made of metal and built like brick outhouses. My next laptop will be a probook because i need it to be more robust that the average!

I did this with a HP laptop last year, sent them an old RM unit and the money was in the bank 60 days later. So, working on that basis this laptop comes down to £600 inc, still too much imo, but closer to the price I would expect

Hence the Insight model being cheaper despite being newer - they're still making them. If I was being kind, I'd blame it on an automatic pricing algorithm going flaky.

Agreed, it's like when you see 60GB SSD's for more than the 120 GB ones, more expensive as only a few in stock.

Wanted to upgrade from 2GB, so I bought 2 2GB sticks to put in. £45 it cost me. Not bad, but not great. 2x2GB DDR3 would have only cost me £30
