What Anti Virus do you use on your home pc's?

My Norton is coming up for expiry and i don't inted to renew it. I was wondering what Virus software you all used away from school on your home pc's?

CA Anti Virus in my choice - small footprint, does the job well.

 

Sophos at the school - looking forward to dumping it and going with Trend in the future.

Nothing on Linux, and Symantec Corporate Edition on Windows.

Sophos as its licensed for home use from the LEA

Dont see any point in paying for anything else

Got it on about 10 different computers at home all comes from one IP so they cant complain

At this precise moment I have McAfee SecurityCenter on my desktop and Norton Internet Security 2006 on the laptop. Both came free with new machines and haven't expired yet. Both run windows XP.

 

Norton is behaving itself and not ploughing the laptop into the ground to my amazement. McAfee is usally well-mannered, but from time-to-time drives me nuts!

 

I anticipate being on ZoneAlarm and AVG Free on both as soon as they expire. (McAfee may not get that long!) I had both AVG and Zone-Alarm on my previous machines.

Avast! here - seems to do the job OK.

It has a screensaver which does the scanning, which makes life easier as I usually leave it for a few hours in the evening, but wouldn't want to schedule a scan then.

I normally use AVG for home machines - nice small footprint when compared to norton and sophos, plus it is free!!!

None, I just reimage every six months.

AVG here as my experiences with Symantec Corporate Security are not good. Same goes for Norton Internet Security too. I re-install every year or so too.

Sorry but due to the way worms spread (most of the big ones from the last couple of years for example), you should really have some form of A/V checker. It doesn't have to be an active scan one though.

 

No matter how secure you think your computer is, virus/worm/malware writers will still manage to get through somehow, exploiting some deeply hidden bug in the Windows code or the code in your web browser.

none, they're linux. Occasional scan with RKHunter and set and MS file to default open with clam.

well i used to use avg then i had a problem and switched to mcafee (worst thing i ever did) and am just about to change over to kaspersky seems really good and does not slow pc down to a snale pace.
