Print management, any suggestions?

A4 cost = 1p, Duplex = 50% reduction.

 

So 0.5p each (As duplex)

 

Only changed A4 B&W setting, and duplex just to test

 

Shows cost for printing 2 and 4 pages (1p and 2p)

PaperCut does not have an issue with charging tiny amounts for paper.

Have a very similar issue, currently looking at leasing copiers which have PaperCut built in. Then with our mono's just use the PaperCut to restrict users to limited printing. It also has some impressive features.

WE use ITQ

with safecom print management solution. works well here. i think its charged per print. users log in with their id cards to pull the prints. Prints queues are stored up to 24 hours and get deleted after that.

PaperCut and PCounter are the same as Safecom @lionsl2005 just different software.

Wouldn't recommend it, it's overly complicated for what it is, and heavily over priced, and i've always wanted papercut instead. Sadly that's not my choice though.

One site I visit has used equitrac, it is through BM printing I believe. It links to active directory and you can give everyone a 4 digit pin to release their print jobs. It does track cost but I'm not sure how well.

 

I've heard a lot of good things about Papercut though! Need to try it myself!

Equitrac is very good and does all the above (we use mifare cards, rather than PIN)

To cut down your costs, you should also be looking at Group Policy Management to restrict who can print & what.

We use Papercut here on Kyocera MFD's, one queue for fat clients and 1 queue for Thin (Citrix) sessions. All linked up to AD and using pager field as pin numbers, works great. Done through Alto Digital - great service and support. Feel free to PM me if you want any further info.

Hello everyone,

 

Just looking for some suggestions on print management and print cost cutting, as our toner costs are going through the roof. Looking around it seems that the best print management software is “PCounter”, I installed a trial briefly and it does looks very promising.

 

I also been contacted by company called “Arena group” offering to supply printers and toner (some sort of leasing), but it’s a bit confusing the way they calculate the price. Does anybody use leased printers, is it a good idea and what should I expected to pay (per “x” amount of prints I guess).

You can Try with PrintConductor. It will definitely help you in cost cutting. It is very efficient. I am using it for last 3 years in my office and no complaints.

Another vote for PaperCut even if we are running a slightly older version it's never given me a problem.

Likewise on Papercut.

 

We used to have Pcounter and have found that the GUI is more fluid and simple to use for Printers. There are also additional settings you can do with Paper Cut.

 

Our old system now gone since August 2014, not looked back. Although it probably doesn't help that Pcounter originally wasn't setup right and a lack of effort from all involved. I am hearing more nice things about Papercut than Pcounter though and does seem to be the preferred choice.
