This story is absolute gold. Absolute. There is nothing these guys don't miss.

Family Guy causes outrage as characters high-five in celebration of 9/11 atrocities | Mail Online

Now there are spoilers for the actual show below, so don't read on if you don't want to know.....

Brian and Stewie travel back in time to the time of the pilot episode, and while there Brian tips his old self off about 9/11. In the present he is a hero for stopping the attacks, but as a result of it, Bush was never re-elected, moved back south and started a Civil war which led to nuclear war across the whole of America with millions dying. So the pair decide to go back, put things right so 9/11 does happen and the world goes back to how it is and without the loss of millions of lives. They succeed and after coming back check the internet to find 9/11 has happened.

They then high five and even say (the part the DM obviously missed!) "boy that high five could look bad if taken out of the context it was meant in"

So what do the DM focus on.....that's right, the high five, taken out of context.

Don't get me wrong, perfect bit of advertising for Family Guy, but a TINY bit of journalism would have meant this story wouldn't even make any website.

As Brian Griffin would say..."wow"

suprised they haven't got on to the episode of South Park.

They make an alliance with al qaeda & osama bin laden because new jersey are taking over the USA. When Al Qaeda come to help them they start crashing planes in to the new jersey people.

Don't be silly - the journalist in question knew perfectly well the real story - it isn't that he failed to do his 'due diligence' but rather that he chose to show the incident this way. Which is my biggest argument against the Daily Fail - it isnt sloppy journalism, it is a cynical attempt to stir up trouble..

I'm not 100% sure, but this is their editor:

My annoyance is that the bleeding heart liberal/lefties love to jump all over the DM as soon as they say that... shock horror... something might need fixing in this country - "What? The DM have said that mass immigration and open boarders might not be a good thing? Racists...", "They said what? There actually might be people taking the welfare state for a ride? Pfft... fat cat Tory-supporting DM readers!"

However... stupid lazy journalism like this does nothing to help their cause! For once the DM reserves to be battered for this one!

Problem is, they twist the facts so often (someone I know was in the paper and was described, disparagingly, as a Hungarian (a foreigner, y'know) when not only is he British, but has been for 30 years and was originally Canadian, born of Hungarian and Latvian parents) that it is difficult to register that they do have some valid points to make occasionally.

I'd be interested to hear if there were any "Outraged viewers" who "were left furious". Because I watched the episode and wasn't outraged or furious.

I thought the previous 9/11 joke was closer to the bone in the episode where Brian and Peter travel back in time with Death and Brian picks a fight with a guy and arranges to meet him at 9am on 9/11 on the roof of the WTC to have a fight.

Family guy has done much more close to the bone stuff, ridiculing cancer/dead babies/aids and much much more, if you watch family guy you know what to expect...they will poke fun at ANYTHING

what about "premature dumpster baby" that was pretty "sick"

Prom night, not premature.

But seriously, this is an adult cartoon. And if people don't like it, the can go do one.

To me the story is as ridiculous as saying

"Hitler hated all jews and wanted them dead" and the headline being

Man wants all jews dead in sick Hitler tribute

If you are not going to keep things in context then it's stupid even reporting on it
