  1. 'Y' kettle leads can be useful - power two devices off one socket.
  2. To this day - 30 years on - , I still detest Shakespeare, due to one fat, smelly, teacher who insisted we should all love it, just because ' it's the greatest thing ever written'. Ditto Mockingbird, which came across as a party political broadcast by the 'all white people are arseholes' party. BUT, of M&M - struck a cord, and maybe would do now more than ever, with about a quarter of the kids in Europe unable to find work.
  3. Anyone else remember a 'proper' flood - google 'Carlisle flood 2005' and look at some of the images. Strangely, the news/government response didn't seem quite as high-profile then. So, for anyone who built in the Thames floodplain (=valley) especially in the last 10 years, very little sympathy.
  4. Send everything to the NSA/GCHQ/etc., apparently ;-}
  5. They're good for lighting fires ;-}
  6. Meanwhile, in Cumbria, I was being blasted by 50 mph hailstones at the head of honister pass - as my bro-in-law was up from surrey and wanted to watch the tour of Britain somewhere special. But they did have a good BBQ going .
  7. You need to point it at an NTP server to pick up the current time.
  8. If it's on the network, you should be able to get to a web interface, default password usually admin00. Front panel ID may be the model no. - 5100
  9. What you need is a Squid log viewer - think most of the free ones seem to be linux only, maybe use an ubuntu VM.
  10. WinFF - Free Video Converter ?
  11. Blinkin' Marvellous.
  12. I had a cunning plan for a primary, to stick DD-WRT on something cheap to provide local transparent proxy, and just point it upstream - No promises, but for less than £20 it's worth a crack. Found an ASUS RT-N10 from Argos Outlet on Ebay, but when it arrived a couple of days ago ---- they'd sent me a set of BBQ implements. And in this weather, I can't even use them .
  13. And that weekend, the clocks go back - somehow seems apt .
  14. The gateway may have blocked you out due to seeing too much garbage, probably worth getting the LA to health-check +/- reset from their end.
  15. takeown and icacls should help .
  16. With Group Policy Preferences, you can do Item Level Targetting, and one of the options is Security Group Membership - should be straightforward.
  17. Just looked at this thread : http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2008/70770-wbadmin-failed-create-system-state-backup.html Looks like lots of bracket/colon combinations are now being as smilies -- not ideal when looking at command line examples .
  18. OldCmp
  19. One of the updates was for WSUS itself, I restarted the server and it was fine afterwards.
  20. Something to do with Driver Signing, maybe ? Seem to remember there's a GPO setting to set it to 'ignore'.
  21. We're just trialling some Meru stuff, and yes VLAN can easily be set on the controller - set the SSID Tunnel Interface type - configured VLAN only. Haven't look at timed access yet ...
  22. Have you got Flash 11 installed, it's one of the prerequisites. I think the .exe will do it for you, but the MSI won't.
  23. 1st step - ensure you've got the latest BIOS - A11, this then gives you the option of 1 or 8 mb graphics memory. I've tried the mentioned intel drivers in the past, but they kept dying on me.
  24. I started an online course for free at Udacity - Free Classes. Awesome Instructors. Inspiring Community. and was really impressed, but had to drop out about half-way through due to family issues. https://www.coursera.org/ also worth looking at.
