  1. Can you try ftp Passive mode - sometimes called 'firewall friendly' ? Have seen similar issues in the past, due to the way ftp works with both a command and a data port. Sometimes the network connection can be killed as there's no traffic on the command port whilst a data transfer is going. The hash command can also be useful, by creating extra data on the command port.

  6. Is the 'remote registry' service running on the clients ? I had to set this to automatic via GPP, control panel, services for Sophos to install.

  21. Just check that keyboard / mouse are working - have had fujitsu machines fail with beep codes before due to this.
  22. Sounds like proxy, you probably won't have one set as administrator - use group policy modelling to check what settings a specifuc user/machine get, it'll show you where they're coming from as well.
  23. look for 'GPMC sample scripts', downloadable from microsoft - one of them will do what you need ...
