webman Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 It's been a bit of a long process, but I've finally escaped the clutches of Education and got a new job! I will be leaving the school that I attended as a student for 5 years, and worked as an IT Technician for a further 8 years. From January, I will be working as a Web Developer in Newcastle There are numerous reasons for my decision to move on - no progression route, the school being unable to fully support the direction and area I want to focus on, the unrealistic salary, the demands, expectations, lack of common sense and forward-planning from staff... and so on. I feel this is the right move for me, and the right time to do it. But fear not! Edugeek won't be getting rid of me that easily (sorry to disappoint MK-2) as I'll definitely be sticking around 4
SYNACK Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Congratulations and best of luck in your new job. 1
featured_spectre Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Does this mean @bossman is without a lacky? lol. Enjoy your new job 1
Oaktech Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Best of luck, edugeek is for life, not just for your lunch hour! 1
MK-2 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 But fear not! Edugeek won't be getting rid of me that easily (sorry to disappoint MK-2) as I'll definitely be sticking around ZeroHour, just a warning, if he stays, I'm employing my most leet hacking skills to take this place down........any chance you could give me the admin password as a bit of a head start? (what, too soon?) Congrats though, I do know the feeling. On a slightly more selfish note, does this mean classroombookings will stop development?
Domino Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 FINALLY! We all know Craig's destined for great web developer-y things - that's great news What does the company do? 1
elsiegee40 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Congrats to another escapee @Webman There are a few of us moving on/out at the end of this term... somehow I don't think we'll be leaving edugeek though! 1
webman Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 Thanks for all the messages folks Nice try MK-2! Classroombookings will still be developed... I might just need some more help from people willing to test things further like LDAP and (later on) SIMS stuff Personal virtual machines will only go so far. The company I will be working at is fairly small, and mainly do brochure-style websites but also do some stuff for the NHS. There's a SaaS arm of the company as well.
witch Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Congratulations! I hope it is everything you wish for. What is poor bossman going to do without you though:( 1
Devontechie Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Congratulations. Good luck with your new job 1
broc Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Well Done Webman. I am sure Bossman valued your abilities & contribution, even if the school didn't. 1
john Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Congratulation and don't be too much of a stranger! 1
GrumbleDook Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Fantastic news Craig ... I hope you are going to have a break from work and still make it down to BETT to catch up with people / Annoy the staff on the Impero stand (oops ...) So, are you going to show the other where the escape tunnel is or do the others have to dig their own? 1
