Engine is now built fitted and being run in Done nearly 1000 miles in it - oo its got some power. Cant wait to up the rev limit to 9000 and double the turbo boost You think VTEC is good you should try two turbos :eek:

Insane as in like fighting a proffesional boxer for a laff? When I test drove a couple they were mental, the backend would step out with the slightest oppertunity and they breaks would only work when warm. Sounded amazing tho but never good as a day to day car.

 

hmmm in the wet on my old Tyres maybe they were poop, not had a problem all winter since putting some Michelin Pilot Sports on. also once you know how it handles you know not to turn the steering wheel and stick your foot on the floor. so much grip in the corners, been round a few sharp bends to fast and felt like it was on rails

 

I gotta agree on the warm breaks, but thats down to choice of pads. i would rather be able to stop when my pads are hot instead of ploughing into the next field!

160bhp in 900kg - it goes quite well

TT kits are amazing fun, no matter what they're strapped to

 

They did a TT XR2 on carbs I think?

Yep - TT did turbo conversions for 205's, Mk1 Golf Gti's, XR2's, Capri's, Seirras and a few others like a one off Metro back in the 80's / 90's. More recently they did conversions for the Lotus Elise which was shockingly quick.

Now driving the new Zafira. It was second hand when we got it but it had immaculate paint work. Less than a week at school and now it has scratches down the side from boys carrying bags on their shoulders brushing/running past the car in the staff car park. I think TT were the first to strap a blower to a Metro engine (before ARG got round to it), I wonder how much an installation would be for my Alfa 146

I've got a Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 DI-D. 0-60 in under ten seconds and can do close enough to 600 miles on one 48 litre tank.

 

To put it into perspective I can drive to Aberdeen from Cardiff for about £50. And that's cruising at 80mph the whole way, too.

Suspension has it own magical ballad of sounds.

But I still love it!

Does it play "Ride of the Valkyries" when you drive it? There's nothing like a big old german Panzertankwagen, I think my next car will be a Merc 190E, so I can just use it to drive through walls and suchlike

I looove my GTI, doing decent miles not pootling to and from my current office, I can get 55mpg if not more (nearly put mph there, but we know that she can do the 100mph+) The joys of GTI ownership, nice fuel economy, speed, comfort and german engineering in the same box Can't beat it

Currently got a MK5 Golf GTi which I've had for a couple of years. Averaging about 30mpg at the moment even with town driving so pretty happy with that. MPG isn't too big a deal for me at the moment as I only do about 4000 miles a year. Probably just aswell seeing as that only works out at just over 300 miles to a £65 tank of super unleaded!

Used to have a Civic Type-R but sold it as I found that it did my back in due to the seats and driving position in it being rubbish. Loved the gearbox and still miss that rev happy VTEC engine though! The chassis, steering feedback of the GTi are miles better than the CTRs though.

I just see so many manuals with the 1.8/1.6/1.4 that owners complain get through a tank in 300 or less..I know I drive gently, but..it's an auto, and doesn't hit converter lockup until 50 (so never on the work run).

Reminds me of a friends Pug 605SVE..bought for a few hundred quid, going down the A5 towards telford and had someone tailgating and trying to overtake..got to 130ish before he bottled it. That was a real tank of a motor.

 

One of Jems colleagues has an Alfa..newish one. Parked on a hill, handrake failed and it enthusiastically tried to mount a new escort at the bottom of the hill. Messy..the Alfa's been in the shop for a week now..

I drive a 2003 Focus RS (only 4500 made). Nice handling car, with amazing brakes! MPG not so good though, 24mpg usually, 28mpg when it's mostly motorway. Oh, and it needs new front tyres every 8 months or so, rear ones replaced after around 18 months.

 

Took it for an MOT recently to my usual garage, had it back and within 2 days coolant tank was empty due to a leak, horn had changed it's tone, and the alarm keeps going off every couple of hours :-( Needless to say, won't be taking it there again.

 

If I had loads of money, would love to swap it for the new 2008 Nissan Skyline GT-R :-) Price: GB = ~£60,000, Japan = ~£30,000!!! Because of tax! 0-60=~4s, Top Speed=~205mph. Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my shirt!
