tech_guy Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 You idiot. I've never claimed to be anything else.
SYNACK Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 vanilla coke They no longer do that here either (well apart from the little 370mL bottles that are parallel imported by corner shops sometimes.

kaphc Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 A good pint of Guinness for me. Though actually I've never had a bad pint of Guinness.
BenABF Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Ale for me. Favourite is Bath Ales Gem but do enjoy Box Steam Brewery's Funnel Blow and Wadworths 6X if thats whats on offer.
sonofsanta Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Good to see the excellent taste of Edugeekers making itself known in that poll above Personally, I like all the drinks that are worst for a hangover. An evening will start with real ale (Bateman's is best, and just down the road from me, but Badger always works well for me as well) and progress to red wine (Italy or Chile, preferably) before progressing onto single malt, currently a 12 year old Glenlivet (and an 18 year old of the same tucked away safely). My head the next morning is often brutal For all of you drinking ale: get home brewing. You'll break even on your first batch even with buying all the kit (about £50 all told, roughly). After that, you'll pay £10 for the kit and it'll get you 40 pints. And it is approximately as easy as making cheese on toast. Do it!

localzuk Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Why can't I tick all of them? Hic Because, I doubt a bartender in the world would allow you to buy a single glass with all of the drinks in at once... So, you have to choose one as your first choice.
sister_annex Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Good to see the excellent taste of Edugeekers making itself known in that poll above This thread is starting to sound like an AA meeting for Edugeekers! My choice usually starts with a bottle or 5 of Strawberry Brothers Cider, but I am quite partial to a Jaegerbomb or two and the obligatory shots if I'm in town with friends.
siuko Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 All you people are bad!! Very very bad!! (Points finger are lots of people) You should have had an option for teetotal
tech_guy Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I can thoroughly recommend Pigor Mortis by the Uley Brewery in the Cotswolds. It's very nice indeed and I will be placing an order soon!
DaveJ2717uk Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 JD for me - though do occasionally dally with larger (becks or stella)
localzuk Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 All you people are bad!! Very very bad!! (Points finger are lots of people) You should have had an option for teetotal Ah, but that isn't a tipple...
jdoyle Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Guinness is my drink of choice (other porters are available and quite nice) but can also be found drinking lager. Jamieson and red lemonade is another favourite but it can be difficult getting red lem in the UK.
mac_shinobi Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 They no longer do that here either (well apart from the little 370mL bottles that are parallel imported by corner shops sometimes. Doh - my plan to get vanilla coke foiled again, drats !!

mwbutler Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I generally only drink stronger 5%+ beer else drinking in pubs gets way to expensive (I can drink fosters all bloody night...) Stella is my drink of choice followed by decent bottled ales (Hobgoblin, Adnams Ghostship / Broadside etc). Sadly we don't get decent draft ale where I live due to living in the same town as Palmers Brewery and the majority of their beer is meh at best.
tech_guy Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Perhaps we should have an Edugeek pub crawl on a nationwide scale - meeting up in the various towns where an edugeeker has recommended a local brew or suchlike?

Am sure that was suggested on a food discussion before - I suggested the Red Lion in or near Wellham which is out Leicster way

Oddly enough there's quite a few pubs that serve Uley round here, must be something to do with being about 5 miles from the brewery
