Tricky_Dicky Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 After helping a member of staff setup their iPad this was given to me the next day
jamesreedersmith Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Most Excellent - dodale dodale dooooo.
rad Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I got a "superstar" sticker today from one of the ICT Teachers. That made my day... nice to be given some form of reward.
laserblazer Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 You're lucky the M5 is closed or I'd be up and begging 1
jamesfed Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 We are always a happy IT Department however all the staff know that any personal jobs come with a price in Chocolate/Biscuits/Alcoholic beverages (which ensures a fast and timely response)
witch Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 So...what am I doing wrong? Everyone always says how helpful I am and how I go the extra mile to help, nothing is too much trouble etc etc but I rarely get any presents for internal or external jobs. Maybe I am just so nice they think that to be helpful is, for me, its own reward. Newsflash: It isn't I want chocolate
elsiegee40 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I got a couple of geraniums last term for helping a teacher with her PC and I'm allowed to raid the secret Office biscuit stash which is more likely to have something in it than the one in the staff room!
SYNACK Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I got my first chocolate bar ever from a staff member a couple of weeks ago, I was stunned and that person gets priority service now, at least for a while It only took 14 years
Tricky_Dicky Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 They figure out quite quickly that more chocolate/flowers/alcohol that is bought for us, the faster things get done. Funny that.... What's everyones best ever present?
NikChillin Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 They figure out quite quickly that more chocolate/flowers/alcohol that is bought for us, the faster things get done. Funny that.... What's everyones best ever present? I get chocolate, but I don't like chocolate.....
IrritableTech Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 It's always nice to get a gift from grateful staff, but it's nearly always chocolate, and I don't eat chocolate!!
neilmc Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 They figure out quite quickly that more chocolate/flowers/alcohol that is bought for us, the faster things get done. Funny that.... What's everyones best ever present? Not really sure how I would feel receiving a bunch of flowers, I would very much prefer something I can consume.
penfold Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 They figure out quite quickly that more chocolate/flowers/alcohol that is bought for us, the faster things get done. Funny that.... What's everyones best ever present? I used to live with someone who was also in IT. They got a pack of beers....he didn't drink....that was a good present for me

Pyroman Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Got a 50cl bottle of Jack Daniels last night for setting up outlook on a retired staff members home PC =D
TechMonkey Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Looks like we need an EduExchange, a place we can swap jobs/unwanted gifts
Jawloms Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 We have a member of staff who buys us a box of chocolates at the end of every school year and at Christmas and thanks us for all our help. Strange thing is he is one of our least frequent customers and the only time he asks for help is when he actually needs it, it's never a silly question.
tech_guy Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) The staff here know that for personal jobs we'd like beer, nookie or chocolate. We end up with a lot of beer and chocolate..... Edited September 22, 2011 by tech_guy
SpuffMonkey Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I get chocolate, but I don't like chocolate..... I'll send you an SAE
Trapper Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 My share of the 2007 Christmas chocolate haul.
Ksavage413 Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 I ran Open Evening and everything went smoothly, received a box of Celebrations from my Line Manager's Line Manager (Great Line Manager? Does it work like Grandparents? ). Can assure you I was VERY happy with that.
