15 old (terrible) IBM Thinkpads for students whoch keep breaking

 

What model? In my personal experience of IBM's (ie. fixing them as a job) I found them to be incredibly sturdy and well put together.

 

They are T22/20, they mainly break down due to kids getting frsutrated with the speed of them. Although I do have to say that they are a dream from the point of biew of repacing most of their parts. Also about 2-4 have failed or are on there way out, however we did get them free from intel, so can't complain too much

Depends waht the budget allows, we use over 80 for pupil access.

glad i asked now, so who do you use as your supply for laptops, i am interesteding finding out if there is one company that is overwhelmed with ICT funds!

Makes for good bargaining power.

We tend to use XMA for the 3year warranty that is invaluable.

I use European Electronique now as they are quick and a HP partner so prices are lower than smaller companies.

HPs, found them to be best recently, especially over Tosh. Used to always get Tosh in the past, but not any more.

We've used Insight as our HP Partner in the past. We've asked European Electronique to do some cabling for us, so we'll try them too for laptops next time.

We get Dell exclusively. The Latitude line all take the same spare parts and AC adaptors (apart from the Dx20 series which use different batteries). The warranty service that we get from Dell is quite simply amazing and we get excellent pricing on them through EuroPC.

We use Stone mainly due to spec i3 or i5, 4gb ram with 120GB SSD's Have a couple of Samsung's and a couple of Dell.

Can't fault the Stone's with a 3 yr onsite warranty and decent support.
