At our school we redirect everyones favoties to their work area, hence they are saved, its a registry mdofication I can look it up if you want

There is some software from smart That I looked at a while back called LinQ, http://www2.smarttech.com/st/en-US/Support/Downloads/LinQ/LinQv1Win.htm Which may do what you want, we ended up just ginving teachers write access to the pupils work area so he could follow what they were doing on his laptop

Thats the problem they were certified until I added microsoft as a trusted publisher, in software resyticon polcicy, we are now in the procees of rebuilding all iamges in preparation for a complete rebuild of all workstations over easter

Ahh, but diffrent memory keys, need to be instatled so you would need a large collection of memory keys to isnatll them all

This is getting quite frustrating now having to run round the school typing in administrator username and passwords, so if anyone has any suggestion no matter how crazy I would like to hear from them We have a similar problem, we let students use memory keys, so they have work on them, recently every machine has started to request admin details, this is because the drivers are not digitally signed but they are Microsoft default drivers, and the same memory key works fine on the test machine which has the same GPO being applied, by using USB DLM, some of the machine have started to work but not all of them, we are not particularly keen on distributing a fix that does not work on all machines. This is a recent problem, as in the last two weeks we have had one or two request which we though nothing off, but today we have had requests from all over the school asking us to install memory keys. Does anyone have any ideas why the drivers are now unsigned which were previously signed. p.s. we have recreantly added Microsoft as a trusted publisher in software restriction policy but we tried turning it off and still we had the same problem, (however we did just remove the certificate and it is our only certificate, so it may not have undone any changes that it made)

Thanks Lee_K_81 Unfortunatly we use RM filtering, which as far as I can see, only awllows you to retrict URL, so we had to block the prefrence page, adn hope that none of them have chnaged it yet, if anyone knows a way to rewrite urls with RM filtering I would be very intrested Molesm

No would not have thought that many would leave part of themseleves behind, I think that the cable is supposed to be very hard to cut though, although I have never tried

Our New PCs were towers, which were then bolted through two holes in the bottom, to the work bench, looks good as you can't see it, though can be a bit of a pain to undo, simalr thing with the TFT they have a metal bars going over the base of the creeen, then the bears are bolted down to the workbench, can't really see them that much. We did have a couple secured in one of the rooms with kensigton locks before we got these new PCs, which were then stolen, they left the kensigton lock and a chunk of plastic from the screen behind.

What model? In my personal experience of IBM's (ie. fixing them as a job) I found them to be incredibly sturdy and well put together. They are T22/20, they mainly break down due to kids getting frsutrated with the speed of them. Although I do have to say that they are a dream from the point of biew of repacing most of their parts. Also about 2-4 have failed or are on there way out, however we did get them free from intel, so can't complain too much

As far as I can see the only way for you to improve the perfoamce would be to replace the processor, and hence the motherbaord, and hence the RAM and (mayby) hence the graphics card. That is if you need the extra performnace, I have got a core 2 2.4GHz and it does eveything i ask of it

If you are getting Sky TV they offer an unlimted up to 16 Mb down, only trouble is you have to use their netygaer sky barnded 108Mbs Router, oh it costs £10 on any sky pakage inclusing free sat they do alaso offer a free verison and a £5 service but they are sloweer and I think capped

You can add users to locak admin group by Group Policy The settings is in Computer configuration\windows settings\Restyricted Groups and then add administartors group, then you can add groups into that poilcy setting

Hi, we have 21 machine group polcy and 24 user group policy objects applying to users, with this a pentium D dual core 3GHz with 1 gb of Ram and a 256mb pci-e graphics card takes about 3:20 to load from the time that you turn on the PC, 1:10 to start up then 2:02 to log on. On other workstations which have 1.3Ghz celron processor 512mb RAM and 8mb shared graphics take 8:16 to load 1:18 to start up and 5:46 to log on it also takes about 5-8 seconds to enter log on details each time.also when laptops are off site they can sometime take (apprantley) 15mins to load. I am intrested to know how many GPO other people have applying and start up times, as well as if you have long loading time offsite Molesm
