Have you already got an audio system in place in the space where the school production is? Camera wise depends on distance away from the stage as well will impact on lens and zoom you need. I used a decent DSLR before (Canon 700D I think) but would recommend maybe second hand/refurbed kit to keep costs down. You then need a tripod and would recommend spending time getting used to using it combined with the camera. Alternatively have a look at a couple of PTZ cameras you can setup in multiple locations in room. I use this for a weekly livestream at Church with a separate audio feed from sound desk. You could go with a Rode Wireless Pro kit as well and just connect this to your mic input on the camcorder. You then have the option of two+ lapel mics connected to the camera.

We have the IRIS kit and software being used in several of our schools and find it overpriced and money could be spent more effectively on using Microsoft Stream and teams to record and then share on SharePoint etc. Camera wise iPad/surfaces/ give a good enough field of view if placed on a tripod in the room. Hi All, I've just a joined a Trust where they are rolling out a VR suite in a few weeks time at one of our primary schools. We have got rid of the old IT suite and setup 10x stations with the HP Reverb G2 Virtual Reality Headsets and HP Gaming PC's, Decent desk pods and LED lighting etc. In another room next door we have stripped this down to be a big open space with IWB and tables for collaboration to be our 'Launch Control' allowing 10-15 minute experiences for our pupils and they carousel back into this space to continue learning. I will get the specs for you ASAP but it didn't come cheap (They won the innovation project bid we have every couple of years within my Trust). The issue with rolling this out is always the VR experiences and how they are embedded into the curriculum. This is the bit I am really focusing on as part of my role. The Trust have not gone down one specific providers route and curriculum, but have built the kit around SteamVR/Microsoft Mixed Reality. We are at the very beginning of our journey with this one school. Once we have everything up and running I will put a post on here with pics and how we have got it embedded into our curriculum. Once we are all good, any Edugeekers are more than welcome to visit! Currently trying to source a decent wall wrap/ print company for our corridors between rooms for signposting the experience and mission control. Had Benq’s In past and were good. At my last place we used ctouch boards as price was good. Shop around with distributors and direct. Both great products and windows ink space could develop into something good. If you use google apps at all have a look at Ximbus. Clever software that I started playing with.

Will double check tomorrow with an old colleague, but with assessment you can import back in. With the incidents reporting, as long as the columns in the csv match up, it theoretically should be possible. I would raise a ticket on SIMS Support and see if one of the tech's can help. A number of software companies are now partnered with SIMS for behaviour points etc - Class Charts links in with SIMS for example.

Hi Ridley, It depends what external software you are using. Most of the big external companies that link with SIMS have the ability. With a little tweaking it is possible to import using CSV back into SIMS.

Or if multiple pupils involved: Select Focus then Behaviour Management. Then click Maintain Behaviour Incidents to display the Find Behaviour Incident browser. Click New. Hi talksr,, I've done a number of ICT suites over the last 10 years and it really depends what you want costs etc. I recommend using a couple of companies to get some ideas about how to use the space. I've had Whitley Jones, Esa Macintosh and just a local carpenter before... I've been lucky that my caretakers in the past have been quite skilled, so we have come up with our own designs and gone the local saw mill. We got some thin but extra wide oak worktops and built our own, curves and all, for under £500! Pop on some Ikea chrome legs and job done! Another consideration is the PC equipment -how old is it, size, could you use Vesa Mount kits etc? PM if you want any help. ajevanu2

Hi, We are currently going through the same process in a school in Wolverhampton. We currently have a 50mbps leased line through our local IT support partner because we can't get FTTC in our area. We are still in the process of sorting things out, but bear in mind the installation costs as you may find a 3-5k bill for them installing a leased line. Thought I would be able to renew and it would be cheaper, but sadly its not the case. Digging up the road again is cheaper.... PM me if you want more info on local providers costs etc.

Hi, We spoke to Stone and got a decent server for our SIMS setup through them. Didn't cost as much as other suppliers and was easy to setup with SIMS. Depends on your needs. Came with 3yr onsite warranty so was covered.

Hello All, We have a number of Chromebooks in school and I want to be able to get Google Cloud Print to print to our Sharp copiers (MX3060n) We have got it working to the Admin account and it being stored in the folder. But ideally I need staff to be able to set the printing to their user number. We have this on Windows pc's but I can't see a way of allocating it within the Google Cloud Print. Anyone got any ideas or has been able to do this? Cheers ajevanu2

I think what Banjo said is right, but you could pull the data into excel and use a pivot table? Have a look at the Advanced reporting tools with excel analysis documents on the support site, they should help you. Feel free to PM if you are stuck.

The market for a school MIS is quite wide and lots of companies make good kit and all have merits. Cloud based solutions have flooded the market in the last couple of years. No one solution is ever going to tick every box, but you and your school need to be clear what they want. All the companies have initial setup costs, add on / bolt on packages and you need to bear this in mind. You have experience in using other MIS such as SIMS and this will help in getting your head logically around reports, classes etc. All the companies will claim they can transfer data from previous setup's but often will bring glitches etc. Your in a great position in being able to design a setup best for your school and get rid of any bugs / issues you have had in the past. I've used both Facility and SIMS in independent school settings and over the two, SIMs was better for me. One school I worked in had the same SIMS setup in it's international school, with a couple of additional modules that SIMS make. I've heard good things about iSams as well. PM for more info if you want to. As previous post's say, you need to shop around and have a play. What are your local competitors using? See if you can go over and see with a real life system, not just a demo dummy...That way you also have a local contact for help and support. Good luck!
