I've been at the school where I am currently working for almost 7 years. I've enjoyed it, learnt a great deal, made some good friends, lost a really close one and have seen the ICT grow from 1 server and a around 100 PCs to 5 servers, a wireless network and countless other bits and bobs.

I have decided to go back into the corperate business sector [ where I was originally ] so today handed in my notice.

This has been a hard task and I have to say some thankyous.

My CV was a mess, getting me no-where and needed a re-vamp. I contacted Witch and through countless E-mail exchanges and drafts of the CV I finally landed an interview. Without Witch's help and expert eye there was no way I was going to get an interview - as soon as I submitted the 2nd draft to agences my phone starting ringing. That is how good Witch is at making your CV stand out.

 

So I owe her a massive thanks. Thanks Witch, without your advice and knowledge I was flogging a dead horse - your guidance and advice you gave was priceless.

 

Tech_Guy was there when I took the call Friday afternoon and he managed to calm me down and keep me from going into some sort of geek related shock. So a big

thanks to him. He is a mad fool as I am which is why we get on so well.

And to Bossman for also keeping me sane during times of crises. Bossman has a brilliant skill of being able to read into situations and point out the parts people tend to miss and he has sometimes been on the end of a few PMs in which he has repsonded and made me see a different avenue or direction.

 

I won't be leaving this forum as it's a brilliant source of advice and knowledge and I hope that I will continue to offer it when I can. This is just a post saying that in a few weeks I won't be working in Education any more.

Well done mattx, I suspect a move out of education will be a nice change of scenery. Its good to hear you will still be active on the forums though.

I will miss your wildlife exploits at school... bees, bluetits and * sob * gerbil-cam!

 

How long before we can have gerbil-cam from your new place matt? :p

 

My home Gerbil cam is still up http://62.31.33.251:8889/ - I'm not sure whats going to happen about the bees. I will offer to still look after them [ along with my own ] But if not then I will understand.

All the best in the new job! Having recently had an interview (not lucky this time though!) and wondering if I was successful how I would tell the head I can understand the nerves at handing in your notice, when I was moving jobs every year or two it didn't seem a big deal, but after 8 1/2 years it is! Congrats Matt - hopefully I'm going to be doing something similar soon.

 

If you need a home for the bees they can come and live in the server room here....

Good luck. It's great news that you've managed to secure another job, and there are quite a few members I know of who are currently looking for positions out of schools that are increasingly getting rid of what they consider to be 'non-essential' staff. It's nice to see that you've done it :)

Every member of staff who works in a school is essential. The most important I think is the school secretary.
