Can anyone recommend a free FTP program for use with Windows 7 and for someone who is a bit of a novice when it comes to using a PC? I have to train someone on how to upload files to a website so it's got to be simple.

Wish me luck!

CyberDuck FTW - it's awesome for MAC and Windows.

Don't like coreFTP much, plus isn't it only free in the lite version?

Otherwise for simplicity drag & drop via a windows explorer folder might be better.

Can't you just create a shortcut for them to use explorer for it? So it's drag & drop?

I tried that but they got very confused and we ended up with a mess. Got a phone call to say half the website had gone and it had. Half the files had been dragged on to their desktop ;)

oops maybe you need one of those programs that auto synchs all files saved in a certain folder, does filezilla do that?

or, a cms / web editor program that has upload via ftp built in. so they just hit publish, and the files are pushed up.

Resurrecting an old thread.

Filezilla now seems to come bundled with a few extras now that you can't seem to avoid during install - such browser 'helpers' and search redirect - pita as I had to spend most of last night cleaning up a friend's laptop after he had upgraded to the latest and greatest version.

Is SmartFTP worth a punt as an alternative?

I installed filezilla again recently and didn't have any extras. So yeah another one for filezilla (I see a pattern!).

It is possible to download FileZilla without all the crud, but after using WinSCP I can't see any reason to stick with FileZilla.
