theeldergeek Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Just found out that my new employer gives me Christmas off without it being taken from my annual leave entitlement! Means I have an extra 3 days leave which I can carry over to next year. Add that to my already generous leave allowance, and the extended school holidays that we get in private education, and I'm a happy bunny. Thank you very much nicely!

Swine! *stomps off grumbling, then slips in the snow...* oh gawd, sorry fellas, didn't mean to rub it in, but it was a pleasant bit of news after my last place which 'commanded' you take time off and took it out of your entitlement, and made me take owed holiday as part of my notice period.

andyturpie Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I get from the 17th of Dec to the 3rd Jan off without taking it out of my entitlement - nice touch but having 19 years of my working life employed by companies who get busy before xmas and the pressure was on right until breakup, I am going to enjoy it!

At my last company you got 20 days plus Bank Holidays and you had to allow enough for the Christmas shutdown as this was compulsary. On the other hand, if you worked in accounts you weren't allowed time off over Christmas as it was a American owned and year end was December 31st.

CAM Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I don't even understand mine. I have to work x hours a week on Term Time + 2 Weeks, but randomly get told to go home on INSET, term ends, etc. No idea where it is made up.

Hightower Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 8 days for Xmas here too. We get 2 weeks and 1 day off which obviously equates to 11 working days off. Take away the 3 bank holidays we are entitled to means it costs 8 days.
