Who works term time only? How many full time?

Scale 3 when this job re-structuring thing sorts it self out. prob wont get much more.

I do 36 hours a week during term time. During the holidays it varies slighty and I have a weird verbal contract. They basically said you are only paid for term time but you need to do whatever work needs doing over the holidays and they'll pay me overtime. This pretty much means i'm working about five or six hours a day mon - fri during the holidays with the occasional day off if I feel like it and time allows.

 

I get paid on the lower end of scale three.

If I come in during the holidays I only get my normal rate, no extra which always seems unfair to me!

I'm officially 15 hours a week, term time only, in a Junior School. I'm paid on a teaching assistant scale, and only get the normal rate if I do extra hours. I don't get paid lunch times or breaks on the days that I'm in, but usually get too engrossed in a job to take the breaks and very often end up working about half of the two lunch hours I'm in for. But school are flexible about letting me work at home sometimes if I need the peace and quiet. Would get more done if I came in regularly in the holidays, but family commitments make that difficult at present, so I mustn't complain.

You shouldn't be paid the same as the TAs. There should be a separate pay scale for technicians - you need to check this - all counties have them, I think.

I am full time (which works out at term time + inset at five days + 4 weeks).

 

I'm quite low down the payscale at the moment, having only started in July 06 and this being my first job Still, prospects are good for me at the moment.

Started off as part time and then got moved to full time ( 37 Hours a Week ) and 30 Days holiday + Statutory holidays.

I got a little confused after reading some comments and think I ticked the wrong box. I thought full time was when you worked like teachers and got the holidays off. Yet some of the comments sound like full time and you work in holidays.

 

Also thought Team time was when you work term time but didn’t get holidays off or paid for them.

Full time generally means 52 weeks a year minus holiday.

 

So term time only would be part time.

 

At least that's how i understand it.

So Full Time here, with 4 weeks holiday, and time in leiu.

Full time and my technician is term time plus 2 weeks although when it is possible I get him some overtime for holiday work. Hey linuxgirlie we also get the "did you have a nice holiday" no because unlike you Mr Teacher we actually dont get 13 weeks paid holiday a year and still find time to grumble about the hours.

I currently work term-time +1 week but used to work full-time at my last place but i do miss the time to sort out problems as there isn't any time during term-time.

I'm also TTO. It's both annoying and great, depending on how you look at it.

 

Annoying because all the essential server work has to be done when people are in and they get disrupted. Also I can't get any big jobs done because of constant interruptions.

 

Great because of the holidays. I have a small child and another on the way, so don't want to go full time just yet. Spending days at the York Railway museum is the best way to spend summer!

Term time + 3weeks here. Last year it seemed like there

wasn't enough time in the holidays.

 

Will see how it goes this year.

 

Still got all of the extra 3 weeks in holidays to use up at the moment.

I may have been wrong about the specifics of the pay scale. It is probably just a general pay scale, which also happens to apply to TAs. I really meant that I share the same pay conditions as the TAs at my school, so don't get paid for breaks and lunch hour. I've never looked into it to be honest. My job title is ICT Teaching Assistant and ICT Technician anyway, and other jobs advertised in primary schools here are same job title and pay on the same scale.
