It could be used with staff or parents though? The link has both the full length interview, and the interview in three parts. The latter was as it was originally broadcast. The first interview (Life Before..) only goes up to the start of the abduction, I think, and may be deemed suitable for a younger audience? Certainly the rest of the interview makes for very difficult listening. I was very struck by her comments about no one questioning a crying child in a car, particularly at the toll booth. It has made me think long and hard about what I would and should do.

I've updated all of the iPads to iOS9 (not the frequent subsequent updates since). Randomly tested four on the ground floor. Some pick up one TV, some two, but none picked up all three. No brackets after names though... We just aren't using the Apple TVs which is a big waste of money, but we need them to be consistent if we are going to use them in teaching and every time we go to set up training for staff there is another problem to deal with which makes them unusable. Anyone heard from Apple support? KRCS haven't been back in touch, but in fairness to them I haven't had time until recently to update the iOS as requested. Guess I need to feed back to them now.

Any idea if doing it that way means you aren't greeted with the Hello setup screen when you open the iPad? If so, any idea how you do the pushing out on schedule? Having updated to iOS9 recently in the usual way, I found you still have to set them all up from Hello afterwards - big job with 60 iPads! Considering how many schools are now using iPads you would think Apple would be putting more work into making the managing of them better....

To add a URL to the iPad desktop as an icon, using Configurator: In Prepare or Supervise, under Settings, double click the iPad profile name in the Profiles box. This allows you to edit the profile. In the left pane of the Profile edit window, scroll down to Web Clips and click on it. Enter the Label name (name you want the "app" to be called). Enter the URL and browse for an icon (you can create a jpeg from a screenshot for this if there isn't one provided by the website). There are other options to play with as well. Add as many as you need (we have set up Espresso and Purple Mash) - extra ones are added by clicking the plus symbol top right of Web Clip pane. When you update the iPads the web clip will appear on the desktop with your chosen icon, just like an app.

KRCS have come out and seen some of our Apple issues. They are going to talk to our network and internet providers to see if there are any setting or ports that still need sorting. My staff iPad on iOS 8.3 that was getting AirPlay last week now doesn't have AirPlay. The iOS 8.3 pupil iPads now have AirPlay and all three TVs show up. However, one TV won't mirror - you turn mirroring on and it just kicks mirroring off again after a few seconds. The older iOS iPads are now either not getting AirPlay or getting AirPlay with only one TV. The brackets after the names haven't come back. I haven't done anything to any of these iPads and TVs since the last posting. I am now going to update the remaining iPads to 8.3 at KRCS' request.

I am not getting server installation options up when trying to install PDFCreator on the server. We are running Windows Server 2012 Standard, according to the server. I have been following these instructions for installing PDFCreator onto the server. There is also a YouTube video showing the same procedure for installation. I have tried the installation logged directly into the server with the download in a share on the server. The PDFCreator version is newer than in the instructions. I am ticking the box for Expert Settings on the first install window. However, I am then not getting any window with server installation options on. The installation looks like it is just running through the standard install, so I haven't completed it. There is no other installation of PDFCreator already on the server. Any ideas?

There are user settings for hiding desktop icons. Eg. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc940424.aspx . Is it possible they have a separate user policy in GP?

Quick update: have connected the unstable Apple TV to Configurator and resent the profile. It is now showing up on AirPlay consistently and with no brackets after the name. The other Apple TVs, which I named with a space after and then back to name without a space last week, still don't have brackets. The iPads updated to iOS 8.3 (which had lost AirPlay) pick AirPlay up again if they are turned off and on again. However, they only seem to pick up one of the Apple TVs (and not the one I connected to Configurator). We have two wireless SSIDs set up on the wireless. One has the settings needed for AirPlay, and the other not. Due to issues with the learning curve (!), all iPads and Apple TVs have both SSIDs in their Wi-Fi payload in Configurator. When I connected the Apple TV up to Configurator today, I removed the non-AirPlay SSID payload from the Apple TV profile. The plan is to remove this from the other Apple TVs and the iPads over time. This isn't the cause of the issues we've been having, but it helps with consistency of testing.

After phone call to Konica yesterday, this appears to be fixed. They advised reinstalling the driver to the server. Also advised changing some of the settings under Authentication (Printer Preferences, Settings tab). We had both the Verify and Pop Up tab ticked. Told to untick the Verify box. At the laptop end, removed the copier and reinstalled the copier. Tested and worked as ordinary user. We have two identical Konica copiers, using the same driver. I also untucked the Verify box on the other copier. We have had unpredictable printing from both since setup, so I am hoping this may help.

We are currently using a driver called PCL SP as advised by Konica when we first installed the copiers onto the server. I've just had a look on the Konica support site for our machine, and the attached screenshot shows our options under Universal Print Driver. Please can someone tell me what I am missing? We have two Konica Minolta BizHub C364e copiers installed as printers from Server 2012 using \\SERVERNAME\COPIERNAME. Logged in as domain admin, user authentication works. Logged in as a staff user, user authentication fails with an unable to verify error message. This is on the same laptop. I am thinking this is a permission issue...? Security has EVERYONE set to Print, and various other users and groups (SYSTEM, CREATOR OWNER, Administrators). Do I need to specifically add the Staff user group in???

I have sent a link to this thread to the guy from KRCS who is coming out to us in a few weeks time, to give him a heads up on what is happening. If you look at the "discoveryd" article, it seems to point to the fact that the problems are worse with the more devices you have. I named the TVs back without the space after, and the bracket was still missing. But I'll check again on Monday to see if that has changed. @kennysarmy: when you say "reset" the Apple TVs, do you mean the manual reset you can do using the remote control or do you mean that they reset themselves after an update? I've only done one manual reset with the remot, by accident (!), and on the one that has now disappeared from our network.... I guess the heart of the issue is that Apple products are devices designed for use in the home, and Apple are running to catch up with corporate and educational use now that they are marketing them to these environments. It's a reason, not an excuse.

Just tried the rename solution on the Apple TVs. On the two stable Apple TVs, I now have names with no brackets after. The unstable TV now just doesn't show up at all. Interesting. It has a valid IP address and is on the same network etc. I'll have to try the refresh with Configurator. But thanks to @Quackers for the rename solution!

Have just done some more tests on the iPads and Apple TVs and AirPlay. The following was discovered: 1. All three Apple TVs are on 7.2 software version. 2. iPads on iOS 8.3 no longer get AirPlay. 3. iPhone on iOS 8.3 gets AirPlay. 4. iPads on older iOS get AirPlay. 5. iPads that get AirPlay can see all of the three TVs, but they all have brackets with numbers after their name. 6. Of the three Apple TVs, one is dropping out intermittently every few seconds. 7. The two stable Apple TVs can do mirroring fine. 8. For info, all Apple TVs purchased at the same time and set up using Configurator with the same profile. I am going to try and refresh the unstable Apple TV in Configurator. I've now got to avoid updating any more iPads to 8.3. The "discoveryd" article referenced by @psydii looks like it shows there is a real instability in OS from Apple. I don't have much faith in the Apple Support guys, as if you look at their own forums there are folks with these same issues not being fixed or being told to try stuff that would be difficult with 60+ iPads. Not happy! Will show KRCS guy what is happening when he comes and request he takes it up with Apple for us.

Thanks for that. It's the same sort of thing happening here too, and we have an Enterasys wireless network. We only have three Apple TVs, but we get dropping off and the brackets issue. I assume from the rest of your post that you have sent the video to Apple support. We are having a visit from KRCS, who sold us the Apple kit, in a few weeks time and I will be showing them what is happening too if it is not resolved by then. If I get time I may try and do a video myself to send to Apple support.

Apple UK support won't add this to your case. Got told to reboot the router, but said I didn't want to do that as it would disrupt too many people. Told to put Apple TV onto a different network, eg. take it home, to see if it would work. I have now (I think) flushed DNS cache to see if that will temporarily fix this. Very fed up. Apple UK support: if you search the web for this issue you will see how many have this issue! Please do something about it! And because I can't edit my last post: this issue for us is that we can only connect to one Apple TV. It's name is appearing in AirPlay on the iPad as Ground1 (3). We have three Apple TVs and they all have separate names. Configured with Configurator, all on same wifi network and able to connect to the internet. I think AirPlay is picking up three devices but all listed as name of one device (hence the (3) after the name). Can't connect to the other two as their names aren't appearing. They were all working fine previously, until updates went out.

I've solved this. For anyone else who needs help: Turn off the power and remove the power lead. Slightly open the front cover that gives access to the toner. Open the top grey cover above the display panel. There is a screw to the right of the fuser unit on the printer. Remove this and the short length of plastic that is attached to it. Pull forwards the two green levers on the front of the fuser unit. Hold down the two green clips to the rear of the fuser unit. Lift out fuser unit. Open new fuser unit box and remove new fuser unit. Pull forward the two green levers on this fuser unit. Hold down the two green clips on this fuser unit and slot the new fuser into place. Push forward the two levers and close the black paper flap over these. Close the printer grey covers. Access the Tech menu to reset the fuser counter as follows: 1. Turn the machine on and make sure the display reads Ready (along with any other messages). 2. Press in rapid succession the following keys: Menu - Back - Left - Right - OK - Stop - Menu. 3. The screen should now show a menu (if not repeat until it does!), you can choose between the Tech Menu and the User Menu, choose Tech Menu and press OK. 4. Scroll to Data Setup and press OK. 5. Scroll to Counter Reset and press OK. 6. Scroll to Fuser and press OK. 7. Screen briefly shows Clearing... 8. Power off the machine, wait at least 20 seconds, then power on the machine. This clears the Tech menu and properly resets the counter. I also did a fuser clean print job, from the normal user menu, and printed the demo page also from the normal user menu. This was just to make sure everything was OK.

Can anyone advise me on how to replace the fuser unit in the top of the Samsung CLP-670? I thought it looked straightforward, as there are green clips that looked like they would release the existing unit and then I could drop the new one in place. But it doesn't seem to want to budge. Am I just being too gentle?

It is quite a bit out of date (lots of iOS 7 articles), but it does at least explain the issues involved in various aspects of managing iPads which is useful if you need to make a case for using a particular method. Very helpful article about printing with iPads, although the solution recommended has changed name and changed costs (Fingerprint has become Presto and is now a subscription for full security version).

Thanks, yes we do have access to the old server Sysvol. However, the Default Domain Controllers Policy contains all sorts of references to the old server to authenticate stuff and we're not sure what that will affect if we just copy the policy across post-migration. That policy is also a crucial one, I think. Is it created when the server is first set up??

Have attached an error that comes up when trying to back up the Default Domain Controllers Policy from our Server 2012, saying it cannot find the file specified. The file is there in SYSVOL\Windows\domain\policies - I checked. There is a second file with same file name plus _NTFRS_00025eef in the same place. We migrated from Server 2003. We can't edit the policy logged in to the server, but we can edit the policy (or at least open it to edit it and view the settings) in RSAT on my laptop. We can't backup using RSAT (it throws the attached error). RSAT is updating from Server 2012 as we can see lots of changes that we have made recently. Same domain admin login as used on the server. The server is throwing up Event log errors saying it can't find the file too. There are four policies that likewise can't be edited logged in to the server. The rest seem fine.
