  1. Just for information, I attempted to run an install of IOS 8.1.2 direct to one iPad (as in Settings >Software Update on the iPad, no iTunes and no Mac). It hung after I clicked on Agree and refused to go any further, with the EULA sitting there on the screen in Settings mode no matter how many times I tried to click on Agree.....
  2. The solution to the "waiting to authorise apps" issue is: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mac/142877-apple-configurator-waiting-authorize-apps.html
  3. Yes they are on the same subnet. Not using a Bonjour gateway. We have 3 Apple TVs and 68 iPads, together with one MacBook and 100+ Windows laptops.
  4. We have no AirPlay in our new school building. We did have it in our old building, and when we transitioned across the old and new sites. I am not sure when we lost AirPlay, but we have had a completely new network (wired and wireless) with new Enterasys switches and wireless APs and controllers, all from NetConnection. So far they haven't been able to fix this. So I have come to appeal to you! Can't get AirPlay between iPads (iPad2), or between iPads and new unused Apple TVs (yes they are proxy configured and on the same wireless network and can get internet), or between iPad and laptop with Reflector. I enabled multicast in the wireless controller under instruction from NetConnection yesterday and it didn't improve things....
  5. The solution to the waiting to authorise apps hanging is here: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mac/142877-apple-configurator-waiting-authorize-apps.html To be honest, I have got to the stage now that I run the first set of iPad refreshes with only 5 iPads plugged in to the trolley, as a test run. And despite all the manic warnings that you get if you quit Configurator during a refresh and then restart it, it does seem to be the only thing that works if the thing hangs. I haven't had any iPads destroyed yet by doing it.... Also make sure that you haven't got Restore backup set in the Settings tab in Configurator. That seems to cause endless problems. Set it to Don't restore backup. Spiceworks, which is free, claims to have an MDM for managing mobile devices but it looks like the MDM takes some setting up and I haven't had time to tackle it yet.
  6. This is a great idea, and if I ever manage to make it to a BETT then I will definitely appreciate a girls meet up! Sadly, not this year....

  8. Indeed! Thanks for spotting the important omission.
  9. And on the next batch, I got the same problem but just with the one iPad. So this time I just closed Configurator and reopened it again. Straight away it asked for my Apple ID and continued with the stalled iPad.
  10. Thanks for this. I wasted half an hour thinking it was a one off problem and then finally looking on here! I wasn't even signed in to iTunes. Anyway, I signed into iTunes, opened the App Store and was signed in. I signed out of each and closed them, closed Configurator ignoring the warning of dire consequences (did not unplug USB!), opened iTunes and the App Store and signed in again. Reopened Configurator and straight away it asked for my Apple ID password and we were away with authorising and installing the apps on the iPad!
  11. You can redistribute apps if you use configurator. As long as you purchase using vpp and load the redeem codes spreadsheet. When you untick an app in configurator then the app is uninstalled and the code is freed up on the database for use again. So goes the theory anyway as yet to try it. You cannot register for vpp with an account that has been used in iTunes. It has to be a clean account. You will need your school vat number to register for vpp. The apple guide suggests you create lots of generic vpp facilitator accounts but go for just one to start with. You need access to the Mac to load apps into configurator and so only one person can do this at a time. Not sure if this is the same with meraki.
  12. We've got the same sort of problem. Configured three Apple TVs with Configurator on thursday. They are on the same wifi network as the iPad, and can get YouTube fine. But no AirPlay coming up on the iPad. The iPad isn't supervised (it's one we got early on for staff and hasn't been addded in Configurator). We also tried with an iPhone and no AirPlay on that either. AirPlay is switched on on the Apple TV. Have tried turning the iPad off and on again, it's up to date with iOS and have tried turning the iPad wifi off and on again (all as per the Apple support info on the web). Still nothing!!!! We have used Reflector with this iPad in the past, so AirPlay did work on it once!!!! What are we missing?
  13. OK, I have done some testing this afternoon. The trolley I have for the iPads has 30 iPads, and you can update 15 at a time from the Mac. Last time, as I said, this took ages because of iOS updates. So this afternoon I have disconnected all but one basket of 5 iPads, made sure that I wasn't restoring a backup (on the Settings tab) and then applied the iMovie app (keeping all of the apps already installed ticked as well). There was an 8.1 update to do as well when it started, but the 5 iPads took about 15 minutes total. When I connected up the next lot of 5, these were quicker. As I watched what was happening on one of them, the iOS update didn't download or unpack but went straight to install. So I guess it only gets downloaded and unpacked once. This means that for me it is safer to do 5 iPads first and then the rest in bigger batches. Of course, you could use the method outlined above from the firmware site too..... But I haven't tested that. Certainly not restoring a backup has dramatically reduced the time needed. I am still very much a learner in this whole process!!
  14. Hi All, Is there anyone who can tell me if they have good or bad experiences of the SMARTboard 6065? We have a load of SMARTboard 660 boards with UF75 projectors, but the board isn't available any more, and we need a new board for a new area of the building. Not keen to move away from SMART at this stage. Thanks.
  15. I was equally annoyed by this. The update to iOS 8 and 8.02 was a nightmare with estimated times of 6 hours coming up one afternoon, just adding one small app! One thing to check is that you are not set to restore a backup at the same time. This is on the Settings tab and once I turned it off things did seem quicker. I couldn't find any way to download the iOS update into Configurator in advance. I have to put iMovie on our set this afternoon. I'll let you know how I get on, and if I find a better way to do things.
  16. Yes. Still stumped. On another IE 11 machine, can log in fine to TES. To recap I have so far tried the following: Add TES to pop up allow list. Add TES to trusted sites. Updated Flash and Shockwave. Updated Java. Disabled SMART Ink. Added TES website compatibility list. Checked time and time zone are correct.
  17. Sorry, folks, but I'd already tried that and forgotten post add that to the list of things I'd already tried. Just been back to check that the Compatibility View settings included tes.co.uk, and they do and it's still not letting me log in!!!
  18. This is driving me mad. On one laptop in school (Windows 7 and IE11) we can't login to the TES website. I have tried both the teacher's login and my own login, and each time we can enter our login details and they are accepted but we just get thrown back to the TES home page and we are not shown as logged in or able to download resources. TES login on Firefox works OK on same laptop. Other staff laptops with same OS and IE work OK with TES login. So far I have tried the following: Add TES to pop up allow list. Add TES to trusted sites. Updated Flash and Shockwave. Updated Java. Disabled SMART Ink. Temporarily asking the teacher to use Firefox. May have to make that her default browser if this carries on. Which would be fine except I don't want this to start being replicated elsewhere and not be able to use GP to send out proxy settings etc for folks to use the internet.
  19. Yes, I've only had it a few days anyway and it ran updates on setup. I checked build against your link and it is up to date.
  20. No, all lower case. But there are numbers in it...
  21. Anyone? I think it is to do with the adding an existing account to the Hudl that is failing. The Account details are fine, as I can log in on a PC. I just can't get the Hudl to accept the account and without that it is pretty useless. I think it runs on Android 4.2.
  22. New Hudl, won't let me add a Google Play account (at home, not work). I have set up a Google Account on my desktop PC, so I could set all the privacy settings using the bigger screen to follow the instructions. Not set up 2 stage verification. I can log in to the Google account on the hudl using chrome, but Google Play keeps coming up with Username and password don't match, and directs me to account recovery. The link from account recovery won't work in Chrome on the Hudl, even with copy and paste. If I do it on the computer, Google Play still refuses to work on the hudl. I can get to Google Play through Chrome to browse for apps, but then I can't install anything. Checked out the forums on the web generally, and lots of folk having this issue on various android devices, but none of the solutions offered seem to work for them or me! Edugeekers, please work your magic! I'm being driven nuts by this.

  24. Brilliant! Thanks! I'll give it a go and report back.
  25. Brilliant! This has been bugging me for months. Seems to have solved the problem in a matter of seconds.
