TomStanley Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Definately recommend Windows 7 Starter for netbooks. Handles the Atom chips much more efficently than XP would. Only problem is Starter can't be connected to a domain, but Pro should work fine on netbooks with enough RAM.

rayfleming Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I've got it on a Samsung NC20 and it installed very easily, found all the drivers automatically, and works a treat. Not quite got enough processor power to become my main machine, but when I'm travelling up to London, the long battery life makes up for it, and so my bag weighs half as much on those days. Integrated Graphics. Same here running Home Premium on an NC10 with all the jazz turned on and it runs nicly. I ran the RC as well and had a couple of issues with the drivers but there's official Win7 drivers now and all is good

Michael Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Microsoft were essentially forced to optimise Windows 7 as Windows Vista would run appallingly on a Netbook. This is why many of them until recently came installed with XP. I haven't as yet seen a Netbook with Windows 7, but from reading these contributions it appears positive.
Alis_Klar Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Just bought the Samsung N150 form PCWorld for £279 I bought it for the new Pineview based CPU N450 which gives a claimed 9h battery life on 6cell battery which is what you get for £279 Comes with Win 7 Starter which now no longer has the 3 app limit boots up very fast and runs snappy although for some strange reason it has the green bootup progres bar from vista instead of the swurly windows flag of 7. sleep works well too i can happily say. Al devices come out of sleep reliably. Hibernate is slow but reliable. running all the factory installed bloatware, firefox and windows security essentials as the AV(uninstalled the bundled mcafee) it uses 800Mb of the 1Gb RAM so not alot left to play with. Gonna install 2Gb of RAM but will test to see how the additional circuitry affects battery life. As another poster said the 1024x600 resolution can be changed to 1024x768 but everything looks a bit squashed Strangely you have to run samsung software to dis(en)able charge from USB when turned off. Why isnt this an option in the BIOS or a physical switch on the device. As other reviews have stated it has a silly tiny slide power control
robyholmes Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I have this on my NC10, Windows 7 Ultimate and its very good. Get around 6 hours battery if I can carefull. You don't get the Windows 7 boot, you get the green bar I think becourse of the resilution, something like that. All netbooks I have seen use the green bar. I only wish that the CPU was a bit more powerfull and that Flash would use the GPU more, as youtube HD won't play very well at all.

Dave84 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Ive been testing Windows 7 on the Fizzbook Spin. The flip screen didnt work originally but now I have the drivers from Zoostorm it works really well. Looking to deploy it to the rest of our fizzbooks later on this year

It is a VIA C7-M and works like a treat, didnt need to find any drivers. MS score of 1.0 cause lack of GFX I would recommend it. Format all computer and place windows 7 on them.... C3sium

Arthur Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Another vote for Windows 7 on netbooks. Much nicer than XP or Vista particularly once you have upgraded the RAM to 2GB. I have also fitted a BCM970012 mini-PCIe card to my home Atom N270-based netbook so it can now play 1080p HD videos like butter.

cookie_monster Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 I love Windows 7 and so when i got my Netbook i created a Bootable USB with it on and installed the Ultimate Edition and it runs like a treat. Very Fast and Handles it well + No Driver Issues such as Wireless, Webcam etc.. Netbook: Acer Aspire One D250 Perfomance Index Rating: 2.1 I would Reccommend this netbook for students and stick 7 Pro on it and all software etc (RM or Whatever) it is very good. Only one downside the new Boot Screen is not available i got the "Boring" Vista Version. Is there some super new boot screen for 7? On my NC10 I just see what I thought was the 7 boot screen, black with a swirly thing.

I think its to do with the resolution of the screen, but might be wrong on that. I know my 10" netbook has the vista green loading bar.
