sted Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 The latest Sophos, still not got it installed and working on my new Network and we've been running since late August! its works for me (mainly) but it finds robocopy/mmc consoles and other ms standard stuff as dodgy tbh i think running no av would be better at least it wouldnt cripple the pcs performance

Which caused things to go wrong. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Resetup and deployed. More annoyed at myself for doing something so stupid. But I needed something else to blame! Thanks anyway. Seconded for Testbase, when every single teachers laptop requires it. The network version is awful and would even cause the spawn of satan to shake it's head in disgust. The Testbase online looks promising though! Otherwise my #1 contender, worst piece of godawful software ever created for any computer later than Windows 3.1.... WinSuite. Try googling it, then try looking up the manufacturer.... The manufacturer has removed all links to it from it's own website.... It's clunky, ugly, buggy, slow, 15-20 years old, a pain to work with, and absolutely no support for it whatsoever. It's main purposes are also mostly done by Windows Active directory now, it just throws some interfaces over the top that confuse things more than fix or assist them.

It's main purposes are also mostly done by Windows Active directory now, it just throws some interfaces over the top that confuse things more than fix or assist them. open office ive not had a problem deploying i have a small mst so it dosent nick office assosciations if a pc has ms office but other than that its fine (i do use mandatory profilles though so copy the assosciated gubbins to that and it works with no nag screens (except the odd customer improvement one but it is odd) testbase newish versions have a script for local install network database and using winstall le ive made an msi for full local installs that works fine so i can just msi it out to teachers craptops winsuite is a truly dreadful peice of software still got a couple of schools with it one has winsuite on suite pcs (xp) mandatory profiles on xp netbooks and mandatory profile on win7 so i have to edit 3 things to add 1 piece of software lol

From my understanding it was developed before Domains/Active was really a popular/decent thing which is why they no longer develop it.
