We have to try and make them things that people will actually do, and not thing that they cant be bothered unscrewing the gear lever etc etc. Im seriously considering digging a hole and attaching a ground anchor and filling it with concrete. I could then weld something onto the chassis, and padlock the car to the ground. The driveway alarm looks good, but as you say it could get annoying. Maybe it could be put inside the car so you know when someone gets in it, but then it would be nice to know someone is snooping around it before they get inside...

Hi Guys, I run a Stolen Land Rover Monitoring Website, called LandyWatch - www.landywatch.co.uk - and we are looking for different ideas for securing our vehicles. As you may know, the Land Rover Defender in particular is a very common vehicle to be stolen, due to the simplicity of the vehicle, its value, ease of stripping the vehicle down to parts for selling, and being shipped abroad. Currently, we are experiencing an epidemic in the Sheffield area, and we are aware of around 30 that have been stolen in the last few weeks. I was thinking that with us on here being technically minded and experienced in all sorts of different areas, we may be able to get some ideas from you guys of what we could possibly do to make our vehicles more secure. Currently we reccomend the Disklok for the steering wheel parked on full lock, pedal locks, roof markings, security etching etc. Is there any ideas you have for cheap and simple security systems, that you may have used, or ideas you may have on how we could make our vehicles more secure. Ways to alert the owner if their is someone poking around the vehicle Methods to scare them off Stuff like that. Anything you can think of would be a great help.

Think there is create a forum.com which is free, but if you want good functionality, get yourself a hosting account with hostandgo.co.uk and you can then do what you want, add what you want and install what you want onto the server...

There are a few sites that let you run free forums but I cant really work out what your trying to accomplish. I pay for the hosting and host the forum myself. That way there are no adverts etc...

I saw that, looks really cool, although I dont use twitter. Maybe they will do a facebook one?

There will come a time when the human population will be forcibly reduced, due to lack of oil, food, water etc. Probably in our lifetime, if not in our childrens lifetime. The energy problem is the one that will hit first. Other technologies are not good enough to support our demand for energy. When it runs out, it will be a bad day on planet earth. Is meat not a concentrated form of the energy from plants? If it is, then we would need to eat a lot more plants than would be available in certain parts of the world. In countries like Africa, where people are starving because of lack of food, we ship in rice from other countries. Surely if the land cannot support the people living there, then the people living there should stop creating more people. Would you still be saying the same thing about the human population when there are 10, 20, 30 billion people on the planet?

It is the amount of people that is the problem. Humans are supposed to eat meat, its just when there are too many people, we run short of meat. The whole world becoming vegan isnt the answer. Reducing the worlds population to a sustainable level, and not allowing it to get out of control is something we should be seriously concerned about. Imagine when there are 10 billion people, there will be wars for oil, wars for food, wars for clean water. The earth is doomed.

Shoot me down if you wish, but, there are too many people on this planet, with the resources available. Yet, we still give money and try to save people from starvation around the world. I have said this before, and have been called a lot of things for saying it, but I am in no way a racist, and hate racism of any kind. We give so much to save people from starvation, so they can produce more children that we have to also save from starvation. Its like putting a fish that eats all other fish into a large lake. Eventually the population of the big fish will grow and grow, and they will run out of little fish to eat. Then they all die. Thoughts?

I know I used to do it, and it worked for 37 machines at once. Think if I remember correctly its a few clicks to find it, but not used it in a long time.

I was told at a recent training course from Epson, that projectors should never be cleaned with compressed air. All it does is blows the dust into the inside of the projector. In the past I have just blasted the filter with compressed air and blasted all the little holes on the projector to get rid of the dust, but apparently all this does is blows the dust inside the projector and then when it turns on it melts the dust onto the colour wheels and leaves a shadow on the image. Not sure how much truth there is in this, but I haven't used compressed air on a projector since. Removed filters, blasted with compressed air outside, and then refitted. Any dust on the outside of the projector just brush it off. The trainer told us we should use a vacuum cleaner, but one of our techs did some research and apparently mains powered vacuum cleaners should not be used on any electronic equipment due to static, so only hand held ones can be used, which we don't have. Not sure how much truth there is in that either...

Ive had these issues on many occations. I managed to just bend the stick while it was in the computer and hold it while I copied all the data off. Basically bend it the opposite way to where they have snapped it tends to work and prevents you damaging it with a soldering iron. Other option is to use conductive paint/glue to stick it without heat.

We have a web anywhere site, and its rubbish. The service is hopeless, they seem to have too many websites to manage to look after them all. They are expensive, and poor service. I wouldn't recommend them for anything, especially broadband.
