A few of us at my school registered for our memory sticks last year and we have had nothing. The only thing we get is a monthly email saying hope you are enjoying your memory stick...!!!!

I registered and asked for one in December, it hasn't arrived. I keep getting newsletters for something I didn't receive and can't use! I'm not impressed.

Hmm ... after having spoken with them and put them in touch with DB (just before Denver so not sure where that went) things have moved on a bit.

If you have received the newsletter you will now see that there is an unsubscribe link in there which works (I have unsubscribed one address from it with no issues).

They have run into problems with non UK applicants due to the fact that the registration page was being sent round the net ... so they have had issues verifying legitimate applicants, but they are getting there. I'll try and catch up with DB and co to see what other contact was made, but they did have an interesting offer to look after EG members and their schools as a way of making amends.

GD, were your data protection concerns resolved with them as I do recall you were a bit concerned over some of the info they may want and how it could be used and kept etc?

I remember signing up to this ages ago and am still awaiting mine!

I applied for mine 2 1/2 years ago and still waiting!

Two years and still waiting here......

Yep, same here. The more I hear about this scheme, the more I am convinced that it was just an address harvesting scheme.

I received a call a few weeks back from M4T and they let me know that they were experiencing a huge demand for the sticks. They initially thought that there would be a maximum of (IIRC) circa 100,000 demanded, in the end this balloned to many times this, coupled with a change of memory stick spec that was over and above the initial size they quoted and they were still getting the orders processed because of the delays this caused.

I can't believe anyone would be so naive to think they wouldn't get an overwhelming response for a heavily marketed giveaway, and worse to be so naive as to not even have finished designing them before taking orders.

Still, the thing that annoys me most is the total lack of any information from them; instead, marketing emails that they promised I wouldn't get in the first place.

Unhappy.

It is very rubbish, and very badly planned. Nonetheless, it's not a scam.

The solution is to get yourself down to BETT, and go to their stand, they will look up your details and give you the memory stick. If they can't find the log of you, then you can re-register on the spot.

You have to register the stick online and all that faff, plus you're more likely to get better freebies from elsewhere.

By far the biggest benefit is you can get to the EG stand, and have free pizza, get yourself an EduGeek mug, a lanyard possibly some stickers who know what great prizes there'll be. :)

Still waiting for mine, still receiving their marketing emails.

Out of interest, does anyone know anyone who HAS received their memory stick?

Maybe Watchdog or someone will want to feature them?

like i said, 'received' would be the wrong word, i collected mine at BETT from their stand, as did many others.

Go on, go to BETT, you know you want to.

Like vikpaw, I didn't receive my stick. I went to collect it at their stand at BETT. Also unsubscribed from the mail junk. Free 4Gb stick, can't complain. I can't understand how anyone can say it is a scam. How have you been scammed? Fair enough, they took your details, couldn't send you the stick, but you can get it yourself (for free) and a better one at that (4Gb instead of 2Gb). What is the scam in that?

to be honest, i collected and it's still at the bottom of my drawer. didn't bother registering it, i got plenty of other free usb sticks at BETT, so it was just another. not that interested in any tools they have, or registering for their site to back up my data. still get the junk(ish) emails and delete them.

Yes, totally free. A £100 train fare for me to get to BETT... It IS a scam. They haven't fulfilled their side of the deal - namely, sending a memory stick like promised in return for our details. If you went into a shop and they said 'give us £100 and we'll send you a blu ray player' and they didn't send the blu-ray player, instead saying 'come in and collect it', that would not be acceptable would it?

but you can get your £100 back and move on i.e. unsubscribe from the "spam", and you're no worse off. it's a pain; true. it's not as advertised; true. it's not the end of the world. if you want a truly free memory stick, follow @rayfleming and wait until he's getting rid of a load, and he'll post you one. he's a man of his word. :D

They've got a nerve!!

Our staff registered over 2 years ago and not one person has received their Free USB Stick! I've phoned them up on numerous occassions and been told that due to popular demand they were out of stock, we would be next on the list to be dispatched, then there was a problem with something on the stick, then out of stock again!!

It's a Joke! - The best of it is I get regualr e-mails from them now saying "We hope your enjoying your free USB Stick" etc etc!

So Mr Director of Memory 4 Teachers, if you are reading this, then please can you send us 80 x USB Memory sticks for all our staff!!! PM me and I will send you our school address to ship to, many thanks ;-)
