Cache Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 My 1st touch screen phone in all honesty and I haven't had any major problems with the keyboard, just the odd missed key when typing a text but actually the Nexus One picked up the mistake and corrected it anyway. (spent 2 hours updating contacts on it first night before I realised once I had sync'd it with gmail I could have done it all through the webpage, oops) I'm impressed and very happy!
Tunster Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I seriously considered this phone! (before it was publicly known as the Nexus One). However, it's still not a good enough upgrade from the G1 I had and adopted as an early user. So went for the Crackberry 9700. Does what I want without the app gimmicks. I'm a serious Google whore though; but I'll wait until T-Mobile/Orange merge in 18 months time and cash in either a better Android phone (if they've bothered to improve it as a communication device) or newer iPhone (which I hope I get get on my half-price line rental for life ). By the way guys; anyone who's brave enough to unlock the phone (or any Android phone), you can get apps onto an SD card. Go to XDA-Developers (or ask me if you want ).

Honestly it's amazing, I was on it for hours last night and towards the end I was sayin things like 'Llamas in Preston' and 'Navigate to Benbecula', just to see if it could. An amazing device, especially considering it's £200 cheaper than the iPhone and is now open source. Prepare for LOTS of hacks, mods and goodies

I just don't like thought of shelling out at the full price and prefer it to be subsidised over time by my contract

If they include a solid state drive that holds 64gb in a slightly chunkier handset that had firewire or usb 3 or something like that - now that would be good.

Because I didn't need one, and would have to re-memorise the number after just getting used to the current one at the time lol USB 3 or firewire ( the newer version as I am sure they will release one to compete with USB 3 ) because it would make transferring that amount of data a lot faster and easier then sitting there for an hour waiting for your contacts, calendars, music, video, etc etc synching and transferring etc and if it had at least 64gb ssd you could use it as a boot drive and have diag software on there to help diag computers or repair them and then you wouldnt need to carry different discs around etc at least if it was firewire ( well maybe for the mac side not sure if its the same on windows with firewire )
john Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 You could be like me my Natwest Maestro card is foldable (as some saw in London when I remembered just before I used a cash point!) so had to have a new one and its come as Visa Debit, and yes a new number to remember, but then again I don't really use my debit card as I use my credit card as its more secure

Prepare for LOTS of hacks, mods and goodies I've had a quick play with it and was fairly impressed, most of the locations I searched for came up and call voicemail always worked, picking out contacts though is a bit iffy though so going to have to try and work out what it thinks they are. The weekend though is going to be time for much experimentation though!
Cache Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Spent the weekend playing with it and using it from the search bar on th desktop got great results, practically everything found I searched for, directions, numbers in address book, places on the map. Using the voice dialler for some reason didn't have the same results, don't quite know why. Most of my contacts it picked up, trying to get it to dial a number (something as simple as 453 for my balance for example) it didn't get, even though when I said call 453 on the search one on the desktop it went and searched google for call 453 without a problem. Overall pretty impressed, just a little disappointed about the voice dialler, but knowing my address book works from the desktop I'll just use that instead.
