Just bought Blackberry Bold 9700 and well impressed, it does everything i need in communication plus more, I did look at the G2 but was not impressed with the shape of it plus I much prefer a full querty keyboard.

 

I do think that this new google phone is just what people will be wanting as it is not carrier fixed which in my eyes is the way forward i feel.

David Pogue's review of the Nexus One is an interesting read. Personally I think I'll wait for the 4th gen iPhone or the Nexus Two.

It seems only non-US Nexus One's will have multi-touch due to an Apple patent in the US.

 

Good news for people in the UK. However, Google are shipping US phones to UK customers so if you really want the multi-touch feature it might be better to wait until Vodafone sell it.

Well, it's still not shipped yet! I may just cancel and wait until the UK release. Mind you, I wouldn't use teh multi-touch anyway. I was very impressed with the video of it on The Register today though

Surely HTC won't be making two different handsets... I would imagine multi-touch would be down to software rather than anything else.

Its got to have a good charge before use, so not played with it just yet. But I can hold out

Mine is now shown as being dispatched. Hopefully have it by Monday before I leave for BETT. As for multi touch, I agree with Ric. They will most likely have it disabled via software, and if this is the case I can guarantee what the most popular hack for the Nexus is going to be!

You're correct in that it's purely down to the firmware/software. However, if you have a US NexusOne phone the only way to add MT would be to wait for the hopefully soon-to-be released CyanogenMod for the N1 (and void your warranty in the process) or wait until Google enable it themselves in an update at some point in the future. I guess it really depends upon how important MT is to you.

Nothing really, I have a HTC Hero that I only got 2ish months ago and works well.

 

 

True the tech on the phone can be found on other phones but this is the first time I have seen most if not all the tech I wanted on one device, its 1ghz processor (Snapdragon processor) and 512Mb RAM, I suppose being the main two.

 

I used the iPhone 2g then the 3G, moving to HTC Hero few months back, I just can’t believe how much I love the simple thing of multitasking. My Hero can get a bit slow when i have Twitter running, MSN, email... 24/7, turn the satnav on and you find it’s a bit slow on telling me to turn.

 

Also the price was good (off contract).

 

I would not say to everyone to go out and get one. Well, simply i don’t want to have a phone everyone has

 

Having got the iPhone shipped to me on day of UK launch, I would guess I’m just a so called "early adopter" to.

It's an interesting point and makes me a little sceptical about the engadget article.

 

I thought the whole point of the way google was selling it was you buy it through the google site and then pick the plan you want, whether it be contract with the likes of vodafone or sim free and then you pick? If that's the case then surely it will be the same device with the same firmware?

 

Anyway, I need to wait for my credit card to clear before I order one, couple more weeks I guess.

I brought it from the Google Phone Shop in the US. You pay in sterling and had no problems whatsover. Pretty slick and easy.

I brought it sim free. All phones are unlocked as standard.
